Harrison’s Visit

When he got out of his car outside of the hospital, Harrison pulled his cell out of his pocket and quickly texted a message to the young woman he was about to visit.

[Text] I’m here. See you in a moment.

He clicks send and puts it into his pants pocket before taking a deep breath. This was going to be interesting. He’d never had expected Katelynn to send him a scolding message in his life, but it was a good sign that she was growing up. That she was accepting of the fact not everyone is perfect, least of all himself.

Still. It had hurt, despite it being well deserved.

So he headed into the hospital.

Her whole body shook this time, reading over his text before closing it, leaning back on her bed and sighing.

After not seeing him for months she was going to see his face again. She hoped she was ready.

“Okay then,” Jack said as he set down some colored pencils on the bed stand besides Katelynn. “I’ll leave these here for you, to help you work with colors. Just keep working on the shading like I showed you,” he gestures to the sketches they’ve done this morning together. They’re basic shapes, squares, triangles, circles, all of them colored and shaded by the pencils. “Just r-remember where the light source is and–”

He stopped when he saw how anxious she suddenly looked.

“…what is it?” he asked.
