Meet the Parents

“Captain.” he corrected her with a small chuckle before settling against her back only just, staring down at the photograph, and rests his chin on her shoulder. “So yeah… that’s my parents. They adopted me when I was eight years old, and… yeah. They’re wonderful. Aloysius taught me how to play the guitar, Bonnie taught me how to paint… a-and both taught me everything else. I’m sure they’ll love you.” he added the last part softly, kissing her shoulder. “Ever s-since she found out you’re my girlfriend Bonnie has been calling asking how we are…”

“How we are?” she asked softly, his proximity causing a bit of a blush as her senses were surrounded by his scent. It caused her heart to race and somehow made her happy that he could still affect her this way; that excited flutter in her stomach whenever they touched.

“Mm.” Jack nodded before he pulled back, picked up her brush, and began brushing again. “If we’re doing all right, that we’re happy… you know… t-that sort of thing…” though his mother had asked if they’d made love yet. He told her it was too early for that and he was respecting Katelynn’s wishes in how fast they went. That was before her accident, though, and the question hadn’t come up since then. “There we go your hair is… all combed. Do you want me to braid it?”
