Jack had just been walking into Katelynn’s hospital room, smiling in greeting when he saw her there, when his cell phone suddenly rang.
“Oh! Ah, sorry…!” Jack said to her apologetically as he approached her and slipped his phone out of his pocket and looked at the name. He blinked in surprise. “Oh…” he answered. “Bonnie…! He-hello! How are you, where, where are…” he paused, his green eyes widening slightly. “Really? You are? Here? H-hang on…”
He pressed the phone to his chest and looked at Katelynn. “My parents are in town. They just made it and… th-they want to see you.”
Katelynn stared at him, stunned. His parent’s were here? Oh god. She had little experience with parent’s, her own being the only ones she had ever really talked to. But Jack’s parent’s were nice. His mom, from what she remembered on the phone, was very kind.
“I uh..I can’t wait,” she replied, mostly stunned with a hint of fear.
He took her hand carefully, giving her a ‘are you sure?’ look, before slowly putting the phone to his ear. “Y-yeah Bonnie. She’d love to, but she’s still recovering so you can’t stay long… yes… all right. We’re at the Metro City Mercy Hospital. Yes, you know… all right. We’ll see you in a few…! Bye…” he hung up, staring at the phone. “They just got into town so it might take them half an hour to get here… gives.. um. Some time to prepare?” he asked weakly.
