“Will never be a swan?” Bonnie took the paper, staring at the url, before looking at Katelynn. “Oh honey you shouldn’t think that way about you. Of course you’re a swan!”
She had completely forgotten about the meaning behind her URL and blushed even more, her hands resting in her lap as her shoulders moved together as if shrinking into herself. His parent’s were making her feel like her old self, before she decided to become braver and wondered if this was a good thing or a bad thing. They weren’t bad people it seemed but still…it still made her shy to have her insecurities talked about.
“T-That was just..I mean I can’t…well no I can but I didn’t want to in case people lost their way to my blog, you know..just an old address name..I just..”
She paused, deciding to just drop it. She couldn’t figure out what she wanted to say to that, and there was no point arguing that she really felt she wasn’t a swan if his parent’s were going to argue back. No point arguing.
“A-And Mrs. Maple, you’re an author! Jack said gardening articles but what about your books?”
Aloysius took the paper from his wife and looked it over before folding it, and put it into one of his many pockets he had on his green vest that looked tattered and frayed in some places, but still well looked after. Bonnie meanwhile allowed the subject to drop; Jack had mentioned the girl had some confidence issues, but that was something for the two of them to work out.
“You can call me Bonnie, dear.” she replied with an easy smile. “My books are mostly romance novels. You know, those torrid little books you find in drug stores for a few dollars. They’re not much, but they’re such a joy to write.”
