“We can…! No hospital bed and cot anymore for us.” he smiled against her, feeling her shaking but he thought it was from joy, from happiness, hardly from a shame he knew nothing of. “Never again.” Jack said firmly.
She tried to calm her shaking, giggling at him, happy to see him have such joy. “Never again..yeah I hope so…especially because I’ll make sure you won’t end up like me. I will protect you always.”
“I’m going to keep you safe too, Katelynn.” he says firmly. “All right?” Jack looks up at her now, eyes gleaming. “With everything I’ve got.”
