Taking a Trip

will-never-be-a-swan:

wrapped-in-shadows:

It was well past midnight when something caused Katelynn to slowly stir from her sleep. Besides her, Jack still lay, arms around her sleeping soundly. He was serene, at calm, sleeping peacefully. She turned her head slightly and saw a shape in the door way.

It was the shape of a man, but not a solid man.

She could see clearly through him.

No definite features were obvious besides the hat, the coat, and boots. The man stood in the door way either looking in on them, or away… either was impossible to tell.

Katelynn suddenly felt a rush of cold as if a fan had been placed in front of her and she had to blink. When they opened, though, the see through shape was gone.

She wasn’t sure how long she stayed awake after that, cuddled up against the protective arms and form of Jack, eyes unblinking.

She had really seen a ghost. Her mind hadn’t been playing tricks on her induced by her great desire to see one plus the story Jack had told her. It had happened; it was legit, she was sure of it.

Peering up at Jack, she chose not to wake him. She didn’t want to scare him right now, choosing instead to let him know in the morning when he woke up. For now she just enjoyed his closeness, nuzzling against his chin gently enough so she wouldn’t wake him, hearing him grunt a bit in his sleep.

She hoped the news wouldn’t scare him in the morning, she mused, trying to get back to sleep and failing for a while. It took quite a while before the shock left her and she slept, the rays of sunlight peaking in from the window to shine in on them, waking Jack up first while Katelynn fitfully slept on.

Jack, having been raised in this house, a house of chores and vegetable gardens and the like, rising with the sun was inevitable. The blue man shuffled and groaned before rolling onto his back, wincing a he reached down and pulled the condom off. He hadn’t even taken it off the night before. Now he felt sore. And sticky. But that could be dealt with later. Instead he sat up in bed, rubbing at his eyes, before peering down at Katelynn.

He smiled, and ran a hand through her hair and gently kissed her forehead before he gingerly climbed out of bed.

Nature called.
