Taking a Trip

He thanked her and used the robe to soak up the wet of his body, and grabbed a towel to dry his head and checked his beard. He had a mustache slowly coming in, since he hadn’t shaved in a few days. He left it alone, and soon joined her in the bedroom.

Jack went to where he had laid his clothes out and began pulling them on. “Well I don’t know about you but I’m super squeaky clean now.” he smiled, hoping to diffuse the slight sexual tension from the bathroom.

She had been about to exit the room where her clothes were, looking over at him and smiling. “Clean and also sexy,” she replied before blushing.

She exited the room to go get her clothes, finding some jeans to wear and hurried to change, almost wished she could smack her own head against a wall.

After that lovely moment the two spent the morning packing up. Disposable food was put in the compost heap, which was luckily all they’d bought. But they did make sandwiches first, to last them the trip back to Metro City. They locked up the house but, for a moment, they made their way to the edge of Gail’s field. They didn’t go up to the remembrance stone, or the trees. They just stood at the edge.

“Bye Gail.” Jack said quietly. “I’ll… try not to be so long between my next visit and now.” he told the field, holding Katelynn’s hand gently.
