Taking a Trip

Jack continued making pancakes, having mastered them so long ago thanks to his mother showing him the right way to flip. He places them all onto a plate, one on top of another, then onto another plate.

“Y-yeah? Me too!” he admits with a smile. “I, I used to get awful cavities as a kid… I had to be really careful… d-didn’t help I had braces…”

“You had braces?” she blinked, her hand slipping on the knife in shock at the image and cutting herself slightly. “O-Ow..!” She took her finger and stuck it in her mouth, the pain hissing against her skin. It wasn’t too deep luckily but it didn’t mean it didn’t hurt.

“Katelynn!” Jack said, unable to pull away from the frying pan but at least looked over to her. “T-there’s band-aids in the bathroom in the cupboard…” he said. Oh god, why had he made her do that? He should have told her that at a better time…
