Figuring it was okay and after having cleaned herself up with a shower, Katelynn bandaged the cut from Psycho Delic and got dressed, packing a few clothes and whatever else she needed, laptop, camera and Stella’s things included. After texting Metro Man, who had suggested she leave her apartment for a while to avoid the villain, Katelynn figured Jack would put up with her for a while, seeking comfort from him.
As she grabbed the last of her things, she looked back at her apartment one last time before closing the door, exiting the apartment with Stella in tow.
“This’ll be fun, Stella,” she said as she walked towards Jack’s apartment. “You’ll get to meet Roxy too. She’s really fun.”
Stella was mostly ignoring her, sniffing around on the ground, trying to learn everything.
Truth be told, she was terrified, wondering what Jack was going to think about her lie. She didn’t want him to get involved with Psycho Delic or to get hurt so she had constructed an excuse on why she wanted to stay with him and why her cheek was bandaged. She hoped it didn’t backfire in her face.
Using the key to open his apartment door, Katelynn stepped in hesitantly. “J-Jack?”
Jack was sitting on the floor, working on a painting that sat on a lowly set easel. The image was of a morning in Metro City, a sun shining through clouds of various colors, looking down on the street where a single figure is walking along the streets. The figure is of a woman, with long hair, and he’s just now adding what looks like the shape of a dog next to her.
He turns his head when he hears her enter, smiling. “Hey…! Katelynn!” he says, getting to his feet quickly.
Roxy, smelling someone new, comes trotting into the room and goes right up to Stella, sniffing at her and asserting her dominance as the older dog, and the fact they’re on her turf, by standing over her. Not in a mean way, just a dog kind of way that says ‘Hey you. My place. My rules.’
