Asking for Help

wrapped-in-shadows:

And sleep they did. Jack continued to hold her close, though his hand did shift somewhere in the middle of the night and his mouth fell open, drooling slightly, as his hand now covered one of her breasts entirely.

And yet he still slept on, oblivious to it all. All he was aware of, was a loving presence in his bed. One he hadn’t felt before. Jack snuggled closer, sighing in his sleep… content, peaceful, happy. It was a new feeling to be held, and cherished, in his bed to be sure.

He dreamed of her. Of course he did. Her long hair swaying as she moved through a painting he was setting up. She smiled at him, in his dream, before running her hands over her stomach which was bulging with purpose and life. Jack’s eyes widened and he reached out to touch her, but he only touched the canvas. He couldn’t reach her.

“Katelynn?” he asked.

But then thick purple and pink smog began to circle her. Jack grabbed the painting in his hands, shaking it, trying to get into it, to her, since he can hear her screaming she’s screaming for him but he can’t get to her. He’s screaming her name, until it all just falls into blackness and his nightmare ends as abruptly as it begun.

And yet he hadn’t moved at all in the waking world at all. The only sign to show he was upset, was his eyebrows furrowing together.

At some point in the night Katelynn had woken up with her own nightmare. Jack had been upset she had lied. She had been crying, trying to explain to him but he had turned his back to her and walked away, saying he didn’t love her anymore for her lies.

Tears had come out from her eyes in the living world, evidence of the bad dream. It was enough to wake her up slightly, blinking back the tears she hadn’t really known were there. God the guilt was choking her and wouldn’t let her sleep. In fact, she was starting to remember when she had gotten upset for keeping things from her.

She looked over at him, wiping at her eyes, seeing his furrowed eyebrows and kissing them, hoping to sooth his dreams of whatever they were.

“I..I can’t keep this from you..it’s wrong..” she whispered, the rays of day barely peeking out into the room.

Jack slept for a moment longer, the darkness keeping him in his dreamless state, before his eyes finally slowly opened. He became aware he had his arm around someone but he didn’t wonder who it was for long. He knew this body well, now. He smiled sleepily, letting his eyes shut again.

“Morning…” he whispered softly.
