He blinked.
“…right! Right. Sorry. I. I just. My head.” he gestured to his huge blue head. “I uh—”
Then there was knocking at the door, and both dogs started barking.
Katelynn turned to him quickly, kissing his head and whispering, “Your head is fine,” before grabbing her purse and the dogs, trying to juggle them as she handed the pizza guy the money and had him put the pizza down on the spot on the ground.
“Sorry,” she apologized to him, holding the dogs up who were squirming in her arms. “I didn’t want them running out.”
When it was all inside, she closed the door with her hip and set them down, being quick to pick the food up. “All right, time to eat!”
Jack had tried to help but she was doing fine, it seemed.
Still he went to grab two plates and napkins, and it wasn’t long until the two were leaning against the bench top in the kitchen, eating the pizzas and garlic bread. And drinking soda.
“I really need to get a table…”
