He recognized the face this time and he watched as she approached him, and he smiled faintly before holding his hand out to her. She took it, and it felt just the same as always. Their skins were just different, that was all. Their hearts were still the same, right?
“Ah… an amusement park?” he’s never been around so many people at once before but… he has to get better. He has to. For her. For him. “Sure…!”
She smiled at his enthusiasm, glad she was able to help him smile again. It sent her heart pounding in happiness. She squeezed his hand gently, a little hesitant to kiss his cheek. She missed seeing him as she always did, his blue skin and bald head, but this was just so they could avoid drawing the attention of the villains.
“All right then, let’s go have a day of fun then!” she exclaimed, beginning to walk out of the room and tug him along gently, gathering her purse and keys.
It was strange to feel so… optimistic, and happy, after feeling so horrible about the loss of his art. But he did. Of course there was some hesitation, being around all those people, but he really did look just so normal. No blue head. No pointed ears. No bald head. Nothing. He was normal. He squeezed her hand in anticipation.
“I can’t wait.” he whispered as he shut the door behind them.
