After the Fight

Jack continued painting as she listed all of the people. “Roxanne Ritchi too, I think you mentioned her a few times?” he asked quietly before making an odd noise through his nose. “You know so many people. I really should try to make the effort of getting to know people too…”

In his confident state of mind he wanted to but that would be a lie, wouldn’t it? Getting to know them how he was now. Then, after a week, when they could try to get him to go out he would be withdrawn and quiet, not the man they befriended at all. It made his stomach churn a little.

“Maybe once all this is over,” he gestured to his head, “I could get to know some of them?”

She smiled at him softly, a gentle twinkle in her eyes. “I’ve been meaning to, yes, introduce you to friends of mine. Nothing major.. That’s why I wanted Mets to…”

She stopped herself and changed course. “I mean I don’t want to thrust people onto you either.. I can tell you what each of my friends is like and you can decide who you want to meet first?”

That seemed like a good prospect, right?

Jack hoped he could get to know some of them… even Metro Man, to an extent, though he didn’t feel all too comfortable near him. The fact he’d pushed himself onto his girlfriend, kissed her even, despite knowing she was taken… yet the fact he was attracted to men like him didn’t bother him. Why was that?

Am I turning into a possessive boyfriend? I hope not…

“Sure, sure.” he nodded his head. “Tell me about your favorites first.”
