First, What Is Your Name?

Naturally, Jack stared. It was the best thing anyone in his circumstances could do. His fiancee was a pocket monster. She had been gone two days, something he’d been unhappy about of course, only to have her return to him like this? He took astep back, holding the door open for the two, expression still fairly blank.

“A… all right… I…” he looked down at the pokemon that was his fiance and felt a jolt rush through him. “W-where’s my grandmothers ring?” she didn’t have fingers. While of course he was worried over the fact she’d been turned into this… this thing, the safest place for his mind to grabble onto as if he was clinging to a cliff face was the familiarity of the family ring he’d given Katelynn.

Oh god his ring..Did I drop it..? Please no… she wondered, searching around herself for it. It took her a few minutes but in all of her shaking the ring somehow managed to drop from her person and onto the floor at Jack’s feet, Katelynn giving a a chirp of relief.

There is it.. she thought, looking up over at Violet and waiting for her to translate. I feel really bad..I’m glad it didn’t get lost..I guess I lost my De-gun though?

She tried to shake herself, wondering if maybe that was on her person as well. It ended up falling from somewhere onto the ground.

It came as a relief to Violet as much as to the others. She hadn’t seen any items on the ground when she’d found Katelynn’s ball, and had been afraid she’d missed something. When the ring dropped out, however, she picked it up carefully. “Looks like it’s okay, Mr. Maple.”

The de-gun she left alone, though she gave it a wary look. When did she get one of those? Katelynn, you’re just full of surprises.

“I think that’s probably all,” she said to the other two. “She was in the ball when I found her, and I didn’t see anything lying around. Maybe the rest of it will come back once we figure out how to reverse the spell.”

He knelt down and picked up the ring and held it against his chest a moment. It was still warm. Why did that matter? His brain didn’t know in what direction to go; he’d been upset that she’d pulled another ‘I’m leaving you a note and not coming home for a few days’ thing, and had been going to talk to her about it but now this, and the sudden fear of losing the only family heirloom he had, seeing Katelynn like this… he took a deep breath and got to his feet.

“We have to w-work out how to reverse this…” he said as he pushed the ring onto his own ring finger for safe keeping. His fingers were slender so it slid on easily. “I, I’ve played a few of the games myself but I don’t… really know how to c-change someone…” Jack admitted weakly. “I m-mean there’s pokemon transfers, day c-care, battles… w-which one will change her back I d-don’t know…” he was certain that he wasn’t going to marry a pokemon, that much he knew.
