“It is not a problem.” Smiling, Veda offers Katelynn a hand. “Would you like to get there quickly?” The fastest route back to Katelynn’s apartment was from above, rather than by the streets.
“That would be really helpful..if it’s okay with you..I hope I’m not too heavy or anything..” She took the woman’s offered hand to at least hold herself steady, wondering how she was going to be carried. “Should..I climb on your back?”
She was hardly ever carried except a few rare times by Metro Man so she just wasn’t used to it.
Nodding, Veda waits until Katelynn’s arms are around her neck before offering a single warning of ‘hold on’ before beginning to run. The nearest alley they reached, she ducked aside and into it, taking advantage of the semi-darkness to begin climbing.
It’s not long before they reach the balcony outside the apartment Katelynn had directed her toward. Climbing downward, fingers digging into the mortar, Veda only stops when Katelynn indicates the window of her apartment between whines of pain, and taps on the glass with one hand.
The blue man had been back in the section of the living room that served as his studio, sketching out a new commission. His lips were pursed in concentration – and when the tap came, it startled him badly. His pencil skidded, scratching a thick black line across the canvas.
“Wh-what … ?"
His first thought was that he must have misheard it. But no, he knew the difference between a knock on the door and the sound of someone rapping on glass. Nervously, he turned toward the balcony door at the far end of the room.
His jaw dropped. ”Veda?“ Quickly, he hurried over to the door. "How did … how did you get up here?!” Since Katelynn was with her (and obviously hurt somehow), he let them in right away, but his expression said he wanted an answer, now.
