“I don’t know if I can..” she admitted weakly, nibbling on her bottom lip. “And it’s only going to get me in trouble! Ugh…” Bringing her hands up to cover her face, she tried to think of what the conditions were to get out of this anon. Unless..

“What if I have to do this to be my old self again? Or is that silly..?” He was right though. She could at least put it off as some mask but she didn’t even look like herself so she knew it would be best to stay away from her friends. “Maybe we should go out and test things and see?”

He didn’t frown, exactly, but his shoulders drooped again. “I really, really hope that’s not it. I don’t want to go out among people unless I’ve got no other choice. I mean … Katelynn, my instincts are telling me to find children. For a creature that looks like this, that can’t mean anything good!”

Jack hugged her. “I think it’s better if we just stay away from people as much as possible.”

She leaned into his embrace, feeling a sense of pride for some reason at being held. That was strange. “Children? Just because you look like this doesn’t mean it could be all bad?” Lingering in his embrace for a moment longer, she gently pulled away and tried to smile yet her muscles wouldn’t budge.

Sigh.

Yet her hand was twitching to a great extent. She tried to pull it back from him and avoid smacking him again. “We should definitely stick together at least…If we stay stuck inside we may never turn back to normal..”

Jack sighed, resting his chin on the top of her head. He was so tall now that he had to bend down a little to do even that. “I know, I know. But I’m s-so scared of what might happen."

His heightened senses picked up her hand twitching, and he realized what she was trying to do – or not to do. "Uh, K-Katelynn … if you really need to do that to someone, I don’t mind.” If he’d had real blood in his veins, he would have blushed as he said it.
