Ever Ever After

“I’m not really all that innocent,” she murmured bashfully as she turned her gaze away to look at the movie, seeing the musical number of “You’re The One That I Want” come on. Unable to help it and even if the lines were sung by Danny, she leaned up to kiss his jawline and began singing, though in a more subdued alto than the high beat way Danny was belting.

I got chills, they’re multiplying
And I’m loosing control
Cause the power you’re supplying
It’s electrifying…

See?” she finished, her body flush against his. Now that the tea was consumed and their pieces of cake eaten she figured it was time to roleplay unless he other ideas.

How could he have other ideas, with the feel of her lips on his skin and her body pressed against him, all softness and warmth? Jack let out a very un-princely little whimper, trying to force himself to calm down and stay in character for the fantasy. “Oh y-yes, I see.”

Since the music was still playing, Jack got to his feet, nudging the trays out of the way with his boot. He helped Katelynn up, and pulled her to dance with him, still holding her close as he hummed along with the final song:

We go together, like rama-lama-lama-ka-dinga-da-dinga-dong
Remembered forever, as shoobop-sha-wadda-wadda-yippity-boom-de-boom
Chang-chang-changitty-chang-shoobop
That’s the way it should be

We’re one of a kind, like dip-dadip-dadip-doowop-da-doobee-doo
Our names are signed, boogedy-boogedy-boogedy-boogedy-shooby-doowop-shebop
Chang-chang-changitty-changshoobop
We’ll always be like one …

Well now she definitely felt sheepish as he was trying to be romantic while she had tried to seduce him again. She ducked her head a bit to hide her blushing cheeks and just danced with him, unable to keep the smile of happiness of her face.

“Prince Jackson,” she began to keep up the fantasy, “you’re a marvelous dancer. Surely there are many princesses in the land who would jump at the opportunity to be with you and yet I feel so lucky as to be the one you picked; to be the one who is graced with your presence.”

She could almost hear an orchestra playing for them, imagining they were out on a marble dance floor with streamers hanging off of tall archways in a castle.

“The honor is all mine, fair Katelynn,” he replied with a lovesick smile. Even if they were just dancing in their living room, to music from a movie, it was still more than he’d ever thought he’d have. During his adolescence and young adulthood, he’d dreamed of finding someone who would love him just as he was, but in his heart, he’d always believed he was too shy and strange for it to ever come true.

But now he’d found Katelynn – lovely, sweet, brave Katelynn – and the years of loneliness seemed more than worth it. Yes, it hadn’t always been easy, but as far as Jack was concerned, the good times far outweighed the bad. They had each other, their love, and the promise of a future together, and that was all he could have wished for.

He kept dancing with her, pressing his body against hers. Just because he’d wanted to dance first didn’t mean he had forgotten what she had in mindquite the opposite! As the movie finally ended and the TV fell silent, Jack carefully bent his knees, and scooped Katelynn into his arms.

“Come, my princess. Let us retire to our chambers."

The painter was thin and not very strong, but she was so slight that it wasn’t hard for him to hold her up. Smiling, he carried her, bridal-style, into the bedroom, and nudged the door shut behind him.
