“Yes!” She bounced happily, glad he had read her mind in a sense. ‘Summer Nights’ was one of the first songs and she wondered if Jack would play Danny’s role while she did Sandy’s.
Watching the opening sequence of the movie, she saw the two of them playing on the beach and before their goodbye.
“Oh,” she began her lines, trying not to giggle. “I think you have some seaweed stuck in your teeth.” But she couldn’t stop herself and broke out into laughter.
Jack’s shoulders trembled as he tried not to laugh as well. Watching the movie with the sound off, without the romantic music, it did look somewhat silly.
“N-never!” he chuckled, trying to imitate Danny as Sandy chased him with a beach towel. “You’ll never use that on my hair! You’ll never take me alive!”
The two of them traded a few more lines, and then Jack was silent as the animated opening titles began.
Well the website had been right; this was a wonderful date idea and a lot of fun! It made her nervous sometimes because she wasn’t exactly witty and yet wanted to make Jack laugh with her lines.
“O-Oh! This song!” she cried softly as Sandra Dee began, Katelynn standing up to act out Rizzo’s lines as she really got into character even though she had been playing Sandy not to long ago when they sang Summer Nights together.
“Look at me I’m Sandra Dee
Lousy with virginity~
Won’t go to bed until I’m legally wed
I can’t I’m Sandra Dee~”Throughout the song she was moving her hips and acting just like the woman in the movie though it made her blush terribly at times for several reasons.
“Watch it! Hey I’m Doris Day
I was not brought up that way
Won’t come across,
Even Rock Hudson lost
His heart to Doris DayI don’t drink or swear
I don’t rat my hair
I get ill from one cigarette
Keep your filthy paws off my silky drawers”By this point she was blushing so bad she sat back down, her face so red you could cook an egg on it. “Obviously the character..not me that was suggesting it.”
Poor Jack was doubled over, laughing so much that tears were leaking from his eyes. He tried desperately to recover his voice, panting and gasping as he talked. “D-don’t worry, I kn-kn-know that.” He reached out for Katelynn, wanting to reassure her that he wasn’t laughing at her.
Finally, with Katelynn beside him on the couch again, he managed to calm down. “You’re good at this.” His arm slid around her waist, and a hot blush appeared in his own cheeks. “… M-maybe this makes me sound like a pig, but I’m glad we didn’t wait until we were wed.” He hugged her a little, still nervous to be talking about this. “I mean, I w-would have waited as long as you needed. I mean it. I already loved you so much back then. But, well …” Oh, he couldn’t put it into words.
