Jack’s gaze fell. “Yes, Katelynn. I love all these gifts. B-but you got me so much, and all I have for you is this.” He showed her the present. It was about the size of a sheet of paper, but thicker.
“O-Oh, no, love,” she began, getting up from the couch with nearly clumsy movements. Striding over to him as quickly as possible, she enveloped him in a tight hug, burying her face against his chest. “I’m..I’m sorry! I just couldn’t figure out what to get and thought you might l-like it all. None of it felt like enough. B-But you know I’m happy to get anything you give me—”
Stopping herself, she realized that perhaps he might have felt the same way.
He hugged her back tightly as she embraced him. Her hair brushed softly against his cheek, and he nuzzled her gently, feeling better. “And I’m happy with anything you give me. You don’t even have to give me anything, as long as we can be together."
They hugged and nuzzled a few moments longer, before Jack pulled back a little. "So, um … do you want to open it?"
