“Love!” she giggled, trying hard to keep the blood out of her face and failing. “We were just cuddling!”

“S-sorry!” He curled away from her, his face bright purple as he tried to pull the edge of his shirt down to hide the offending bulge. “I’ll, um, I’ll be right back …”

“To do what~? I could always help you with that though really now you’re so impossible.” She merely looked amused.

His thoughts had been running along the lines of a washcloth soaked in icy water (a cold shower in miniature, basically), but when he heard Katelynn’s offer, Jack paused. “Really? Um, that is, I mean, you don’t have to. I thought you just wanted to cuddle?”

She smiled at him and shifted a bit to look as enticing as possible, trying to give emphasis on her small bust by leaning on him a bit more. “Well yes…but cuddling can evolve into something more.” She wrinkled her nose in amusement at how flirty she was being, feeling so unlike herself but having fun with this.

He shifted nervously on the couch, where the two of them were curled together. Although he was still deeply embarrassed (he was thirty, he shouldn’t be getting overexcited like some horny teenager who’d never touched a girl before!), her words, and the mental images they conjured up, were very tempting.

“That … might be nice.” With a shy smile, Jack leaned in and kissed her.

Ever Ever After

She cupped her hands together and brought them near her chest as her lips stretched out into the widest smile. It was from trying not to giggle and break character as she was having so much fun that it was bubbling over.

“Oh brave prince! I feared none would ever come to rescue me. I hope you are not terribly hurt.”

Reaching out, she began to gently run her hands along his torso, knowing this would be completely inappropriate in Old England in the 11th century. But it didn’t have to be accurate.

“Such a strong, handsome prince who has come to rescue me,” she flirted, smiling at him. Her cheeks were beginning to hurt from it.

As she ran her hands over his chest, Jack made a low, pleased sound that was almost a purr. It took him a moment to recover himself and get back in to character, but he went on, with a gallant smile, “Fear not, sweet princess. With my skill and swiftness, the villains left not a mark on me.”

His smile faded a little as, for a moment, he found himself thinking back to all the one-sided fights of his childhood. His tormentors had left plenty of marks back then, and sometimes being able to run fast was the only thing that had kept the little blue boy from being hurt worse. But – oh hell, he didn’t want to be thinking about all that now. He pushed those memories away forcefully, keeping only enough to help him act his part now.

“But, the battle was a long one,” he went on, “and I am quite weary. I’d very much like to rest for a while, in your company.” Feeling better now, Jack reached up and gently brushed some of Katelynn’s hair back. Like her touches and flirting, it would have been a very inappropriate gesture back in medieval times, but it felt very right now. “If I may say, Princess Katelynn … in all the songs and tales I’ve heard of you, none spoke of how beautiful you are.”

Though she blushed at his comment, she had been watching his face as he sprouted his improv lines, seeing his smile fall. Hopefully he wasn’t loosing interest in their playful roleplaying unless it was just reminding him of something? Cupping his cheek gently, she smiled bashfully at him and hoped her words and actions could help with that.

“I did not know such tales were woven of me but really…the only beautiful one I see is thee…brave, strong, handsome and just the most wonderful of all…” she spoke earnestly, combining her true feelings into her acting.

“You have risked much to get so far and for that I am truly thankful..it must not have been easy but it shaped you into who you are…someone I have fallen instantly in love with. I would be most honored to bask in your presence for all time.”

Lowering her hand from his cheek, she scooted over to him and cuddled into his side, sighing contently. Though this was meant to be a form of fun foreplay, she couldn’t help but shower him with love and hope it would ease his heart. Perhaps it would even earn her a kiss? She loved it when he took the initiative to do that if nothing else.

And it did ease his heart. Jack tilted his cheek into her hand, almost like a cat being petted, closing his eyes with contentment as he listened to her words. It took all his resistance not to pull her into his arms and cover her with kisses right away, but that wasn’t the way this sort of fantasy went – and he wanted to do it right.

“The honor would be all mine,” he answered her, smiling once again. As Katelynn cuddled against him, Jack wrapped one arm around her. With his free hand, he reached up and caressed her cheek. “I never put much faith in love at first sight. But now, when I see you, princess, I could easily believe in it.” He leaned in and buried his face in her hair for a moment, breathing in her warm, sweetly exciting scent. “You are as kind and sweet, as generous and brave, as you are beautiful. And I love you."

Jack shifted a little so that he was leaning partway over her, gazing down into her eyes. "If I may be so bold, dearest Katelynn, as to ask for a kiss?"

As she had worked on the ‘castle’, Katelynn admired the glow of the room and how he had set it up, all those pictures of rooms surrounded by twinkly lights nearly coming true before her. Granted it was candles instead but it didn’t make it any less romantic. With Christmas coming she could extend the romance in the bedroom by buying plenty of lights to decorate the room with.

Smiling, she got into position and called out a soft “Help..someone help me! I’ve been taken prisoner inside this castle by the evil army. Is anyone brave enough to fight them off and come rescue me or am I doomed to live out the rest of my life trapped here…?”

She tried her best to make it sound authentic and lonely rather than cheesy as she waited for Jack to make his grand entrance.

Jack did his best not to laugh. Really, she had a very good voice for the part – if he hadn’t seen that she was hiding in a pile of pillows, he could have believed she really was in trouble.

“Fear not, dear lady! Help is on the way!” With that, he made his way across the bedroom with dramatic leaps and twirls, making his cape flow as he went. If the costume had come with a sword, he would have drawn it, but for the sake of Jack’s pacifist nature (and for the sake of not knocking anything over), it was probably for the best he didn’t have one.

He reached her bedside, and crept into the pillow fort as best he could without disturbing it. “Princess, are you hurt? Don’t worry, you’re safe now. Th-the evil army has been vanquished.”

The secret for long relationships is not having a perfect and harmonious love affair. It is not how less often you fight, not because of the number of similarities and the things you both like doing together nor the number of mistakes you did. Those things count but it is the faith that keeps you going. A relationship would last if both of you are willing not to give up, if both of you are willing to stand up and still try every time one of you or both of you fall. You should not lose hope when you are struck with problems along the way. Give each other hope and hold on as long as you can.

She giggled as she adjusted herself on the bed and grabbed the pillows. “Let me make the ‘castle’ then and you can come in to ‘rescue’ me like you’ve just fought some great battle to get through but instead of taking me away and with everything safe we just ‘snuggle’ here?” she suggested, putting the pillow up to hide half of her face and cover up her excited smile.

Plus it would give him that time to set up candles as she grabbed as many pillows as she could and set them on top of each other in a way where they wouldn’t fall.

He couldn’t help chuckling a little as well. “As you wish!” he bowed with a sweep of his cape, and headed away to get the candles.

Soon Jack had brought back an armful of them, and it wasn’t long before the bedroom was bathed in a soft golden glow. With the curtains drawn, the whole effect was very romantic; the two of them could almost believe they really were in a medieval castle.

“Jack!” she called out in surprise, forgetting to call him by his roleplay name as she bound her hands around his shoulder to hold on tight. He had never carried her bridal style before and yet it was so romantic, like something out a movie that she couldn’t help a tiny squeal of happiness. “O-Oh wow..”

Definite turn on for her as she hid her face in his neck for a moment. “So the prince has rescued his princess from the evil doer or are you planting me in the ‘castle’ where you will come rescue me?”

She still needed to build the fort to give it the full effect to but she was happy enough in his arms for now.

Jack hoped she wasn’t going to expect him to carry her like this regularly. He could manage it for short distances, when he was excited enough, but it was still hard to keep her safe and balanced. Not to mention, he liked it more when she took the lead; he wished she didn’t feel so self-conscious about ‘seducing’ him, because he loved knowing how much she wanted him. But this was special, and part of the fantasy.

“Mm, whichever you’d prefer, my love.” He laid Katelynn gently down on the soft quilt. The lights were off, but it would be easy – and more romantic – for him to fetch some candles from the other room. “This is your fairy tale, after all.”
