(for both Jack’s) “Red, yellow, -snicker- peach, dad.”

[Present]

[Nervous chuckle] Um, th-thanks, Gail. I don’t know you very well yet, but I th-think yellow fits for you as well.

[Future]

[Gives his daughter a warm smile] Thank you, Gail. Yellow definitely fits for you, as well as peach. And red too – please don’t ever doubt that.

Did you ever try to sneak out as a teenager? Anything at all that was dangerous that got you grounded? Ask any girls out on dates or something?

[Shakes his head] N-no, I was a pretty boring teenager. There wasn’t much point in sneaking out, since we lived in such a small town. N-nothing very exciting to do, and I would have been recognized and caught right away. [Swallows nervously] Besides, I didn’t have many fr-friends to sneak out with. [Hesitates] … I d-did try to ask a girl out, once or twice. [Deliberately being vague, not liking the memories] B-but they always turned me down, so I stopped trying.
