Drinks at the Red Velvet

flawlessacting:

-Arriving at the Red Velvet, Juniper puts it in park and steps out, a valet taking the car keys from him- “Here it is.” -It’s a fancy building with low lighting and beautiful decor with sections separated for the cigar smokers and the bar strictly for drinking. He leads Jack inside and walks up to the bar to order a scotch before turning to Jack- “What’ll you have?”

Standing a short ways back from the bar, Jack fidgeted nervously for a moment. As he’d told the other man, he didn’t drink as a habit, but he didn’t want Juniper to think he was a wimp by ordering something non-alcoholic. But what to order? He hated the taste of beer and scotch. Wine was okay – they’d served it at many of the galas when he was in New York – but he knew bars weren’t known for their fine vintages.

“Uh … a mojito?” He’d tried those, and they were usually okay. He just hoped a cocktail wouldn’t seem too girly.

Grace & Steve~

-Drives him around, doing his best to avoid roads with street lights- “Ah okay well luckily the place we’re going, like I said, isn’t so bad when it comes to crowds. If we have fun tonight perhaps we can even make it a regular thing and it might even help you build some confidence hmm?” -moves the stick around when he switches gears-

[He can’t help it – his cheeks heat up in embarrassment as he realizes how obvious his nervousness must be.] Er … maybe? L-let’s see how tonight goes.

-Revving the engine once Jack gets in, he smiles to try to reassure the man and peels into traffic, going rather fast but keeping his eyes peeled for cops- “Hopefully the alcohol will loosen you up a bit or help you relax because you really don’t need to be so nervous around me.” -smiles-

[He buckles himself in carefully, trying to appear confident] I’m sorry, Juniper, it’s n-not you. I’m just … as I told you, I don’t get out much. [Which is as close as he can come to saying “I’m shy and cowardly and don’t do well in crowds” – even though he’s been getting better, it’s still how he thinks of himself.]

“Easier to stay inside and paint so no one bothers you right? You wouldn’t be famous if you didn’t give painting your all I say.” -smiles- “So let’s go get that drink hmm?”

[Oh, he wants so badly not to seem awkward. It’s always difficult for him to meet other blue folk, who are usually much more confident and accomplished than he is. Still, the compliment is nice.] S-something like that. Painting is my life, and I do try to g-give it my best. [Returns the smile] All right. Where did you have in mind?
