*he looked at her, before looking away for the first time, breaking eye contact with her* …i, i know i did. but. i didn’t mean just as a friend. it just. i just. like like.

Not..just as a friend..? She wondered at that, the grip of her hands loosening on his. “Then..as a best friend..?”

… *he lets go of her hand, and shuts his eyes* n-no. no. …what… what did you think i meant?

She was still confused. They had talked about this already and he had even agreed with her. “That you like me as a friend. You even said yes.”

*missed out on something wonderful? he’d hardly think that, but… hearing her say it made his face flush and his heart beat even faster within his chest. he looks at her for a moment, then down at where their hands would be, and swallowed. hard*

…Katelynn… r… remember, the other day that… that i told you that i like you?

She blinked at the change in topic but nodded her head, tilting it slightly. “Yes.” Why was he bringing this up now?

…what… what did you think i meant?

*jack smiles faintly. easy to like. yeah, like. he’s always been the guy girls like, but that’s it. in the rare moments he has tried telling a girl he likes her, it always resulted the same. ‘you’re nice, but you’re my friend!’ or, ‘are you kidding?’. he was blue, big headed, an alien, and a guy who stuttered. not many girls were into that. he had accepted that, but that didn’t make his heart hurt any less when these types of things happened. it was different here. he’d told her he liked her, but she had missed it entirely. how straight to the point did he have to be, and should he? she looked so upset sometimes, so lost… and whatever had made her want to be ugly? that wasn’t his business no matter how much he waned to know so he could offer her support*

i just… *he shifts just a bit closer to her* …i’m just me, that’s.. that’s all.

She covered his hand under the blanket, the same hand covering her other one, a slight frown on her face. “No..that’s not just it…you obviously don’t see how amazing you are…Modest, kind, funny, sweet, considerate…Whoever didn’t accept you for who you are..they missed out on someone wonderful…

“…but I won’t miss out…I want to be here for as long as you want me around..”

*he smiled faintly, a purple blush spreading over his face while the movie continued to play, though neither really seemed to be watching it right now. jack laced his fingers with hers slowly, beneath the blanket, and held eye contact with her*

…that’s one of the things i really, really like about you. that you, you give everyone a chance and… and i’ve seen what people have said about it but i think its a great trait to have. in this… this world, some people are judged so quickly. you should wait to see their actions before you brand them, and you… you always give them a chance.

and you gave me one. something nobody… really did, besides my family.

She was trapped and she couldn’t say she was complaining. No, he wasn’t Harrison; he was better. The eyes were the same color but the emotions behind them were different. They were so much more innocent, more sincere.

She wasn’t paying attention to the movie but she could still hear the background music as it wrapped around her. It added to the moment, her heart beating faster. Was it wrong of her to feel this way? She had barely started getting over a crush…

“You are just..so easy to like…”

that’s an excellent motto to believe in. *he nods his head as he looks at her, too, looking into her eyes with a genuine, honest look. jack smiles, before, somewhat boldly, placing his hand over hers* what i believe in, is not judging a book by its cover. that even somebody who may seem… different, who may think little of themselves, deserves a chance. to not let their looks decide what they do with their lives. everyone needs a chance don’t they?

It resonated within her as it slightly applied to her past, how she had hidden herself from people, before realized he was also talking about himself. Her heart went out to him, wondering what kind of past he had.

“Yes…they do…And if it helps, I’ve always seen you for who you are inside..rather than outside..”

Except your eyes..I always notice those… She was scared to add in, looking into them deeply, studying their color, the way they seemed to glow; they were so beautiful.

*jack only shrugs slightly* well, i don’t mean.. all, all the time together i mean yes people need space… *even if i miss you when you’re not around. god what’s wrong with me* i guess there’s different kinds of love and… things…it may be one universal thing but sometimes it feels like people love one another in different ways…

*and then the girl is introduced to the ‘juliets’ who all look after certain letter types. its interesting, but then she finds the old letter in the wall, hidden for who knows how many years. she sits at a type writer a whole day writing it out properly*

…i wouldn’t get tired of you, though. *just felt the need to say that*

She blushes, feeling her heart soar slightly. The movie was definitely affecting her somehow, causing a sort of difference in the mood. It was definitely the background music.

“I wouldn’t get tired of you either…” She nudged him back before continuing, “there are different kinds of love, yes…but one basic root belief I believe in..” And she turned to look at him with a completely serious expression, “…is that you like someone for their qualities but love them for their faults…”

that’s an excellent motto to believe in. *he nods his head as he looks at her, too, looking into her eyes with a genuine, honest look. jack smiles, before, somewhat boldly, placing his hand over hers* what i believe in, is not judging a book by its cover. that even somebody who may seem… different, who may think little of themselves, deserves a chance. to not let their looks decide what they do with their lives. everyone needs a chance don’t they?

ah n-no don’t give her cheese. she farts if she gets cheese… *too late. ugh. he gave Roxy a narrowed eye look* no farting in the room, Roxy. *the pug just barks at him*

*he watches the movie too, having seen it a fair few times, and shakes his head* hm-mm. he’s more worried about his restaurant going well than his wedding which… is kind of wrong, isn’t it? if you love someone, and.. and you’re marrying them, shouldn’t your every free moment out of work be about them? if, if i was ever going to get married i’d make sure my bride would love it.

She had been about to apologize about the cheese but stopped short at his confession, looking at him in wide eyed wonder. “I-I’m not sure it really should be just about them..couple’s need space from each other to grow..it’s just..he does seem to be inconsiderate during these moments..but no one is perfect..”

She was having trouble voicing her thoughts. It made sense in her mind. “I mean..if it were me, would you really want to spend every waking moment around me? I’m sure you’d get tired of me if you did.”

She watched as the heroine herself distanced herself from her fiancee, finding the wall of letters.

*he smiles at her softly, before reaching for some of the cheese she brought* r-really? that’s so nice of you…! you really didn’t have to but thanks…

*seeing daddy had cheese, Roxy locked eyes with him, and whimpered in her most pathetic ‘oh i am so hungry please feed me’ way. he ignored her*

But Katelynn noticed. She cared for the little pug so much already that she leaned over Jack to grab some cheese and offered it to Roxy. “Here you are, cutie.”

Then leaned back into her spot and watched the movie, answering him, “It was no problem silly. I think everyone should go see how amazing you and your art is.”

When the girl had gone off to Italy with her boyfriend, she frowned a little. “They don’t seem right for each other…” she whispered to herself.

mmm, it, it is. *so he presses play and settles besides her, feeling at ease with her being so close. wow, they had grown fairly close this past week hadn’t they? messages, phone calls, her… straddling… him just then. but all of it was fairly innocent wasn’t it? what would she do if he put his arm around her? freak out? he dare not try to find out… well… maybe? no. no. not now. as the movie begins he adds in, quietly* s-so you’ll be coming with me on the 22nd to my gallery debut…? *he decided to make light of it, and nudged her playfully* as my date?

As she watched the opening credits of the movie with so many paintings of people kissing combined with what Jack said, she blushed lightly, looking up over at him. “O-Of course.” Her face melted into a smile, feeling that warm feeling pool in her stomach. “I would miss it for anything. I was so excited when you told me, in fact, I was telling anyone I knew to go to the opening and support you.”
