Day at the Amusement Park

Jack looked down at his hand for a moment as it turned blue and a slight panic struck him. Oh god. If people saw him. He fought the urge to duck down, instead he held onto one of her hands, and looked into her eyes as well. There was adoration there, of course there was, love and all of those wonderful thing she makes him feel but just a bit of fear.

“Y-yeah. That accent is just weird.” he admitted, before reaching with his free hand and caressed her temple and cheek gently.

“But I prefer you like this, then that face you wear for me now, out there.” Jack added softly.

“Same for me,” she replies gently, scooting closer to him. “I prefer you as you are naturally. That’s the face of the man I fell in love with..”

Her eyes locked onto his a moment before straying down to his lips and slightly licking her own, blushing.

He saw that look, and he knew what it meant. They hadn’t kissed in public before. Still, they were in a Ferris Wheel. They couldn’t get further away from people while still being in it…

Oh screw it.

Jack moved to her, and captured her lips with his own, kissing her softly.

“I think I’m good with that.” he said with a smile, holding her hand, but spotted that disappointed look. Oh. He should have just said fun. Yes, fun. Next time he would, just so not to see that look on her face again.

The line was definitely not long on this ride considering people wanted to get on roller coasters and fast rides so Katelynn and Jack are easily ushered into a cart, the door closing behind them. This Ferris Wheel was equipped with circular compartments with windows and benches so the breeze wouldn’t hit them so high up.

The Ferris Wheel began to move slowly once they were inside, Katelynn making a grab for his watch once no one could see them, turning it off before turning her own so they were themselves, if only for a moment.

She smiled at him, touching his cheek. “I wanted to..see the man I loved while I could tonight,” she said, staring up at him with so much love in her eyes.

“…something. I’m not sure ef fun ez ze right word.” he admitted shakily since really, he didn’t know. His fun came from painting. This had been crazy. But he smiled at her, before looking around, getting his bearings. “So where to next?”

She looked a bit disappointed but tried not to let it show as she looked around the park, deciding to give him a break and pointed to the Ferris Wheel up ahead. “How about that one? Watch the scenery of Metro City. It only goes really high and nothing else.”

“I think I’m good with that.” he said with a smile, holding her hand, but spotted that disappointed look. Oh. He should have just said fun. Yes, fun. Next time he would, just so not to see that look on her face again.

His limbs felt like lead weights and he was so glad when he could unstrap himself from the ride. Jack stumbled slightly, uneasy, grabbing hold of anything to keep steady.

“…v-very shaking.” he admits shakily, looking at her with an odd smile. “V-very different…”

She took a hold of him gently, giggling a bit as she helped him off the ride. “B-But fun, right?” she wondered as she kept an arm around him as they walked off toward the exit of the ride to go look for another to get on.

While she screamed outwardly, Jack was screaming internally. His eyes remained open as the ride went faster, and faster, and he felt the pull of gravity against him but like Katelynn, he went no where. His free hand dug against the ride, no doubt his nail marks leaving an imprint on the metal itself. He breathes in hard through his nose, trying to enjoy it.

Just relax. Let go. Calm down…

Hard to when you were fighting the laws of gravity.

It went faster and faster for a moment, leaving you unable to move and Katelynn was yelling out in excitement, enjoying it immensely. But it didn’t last long as the ride began to finally slow down, Katelynn limbs feeling heavy as they drooped forward while the ride came to a complete stop.

She slowly turned her heavy head to Jack, and huge smile on her face. “H-How was that?” she asked softly, in a voice that wasn’t her own.

His limbs felt like lead weights and he was so glad when he could unstrap himself from the ride. Jack stumbled slightly, uneasy, grabbing hold of anything to keep steady.

He did his best to keep calm, really he did.

Jack had followed the instructions of the man, buckling himself in, whilst he looked around at other people. They all seemed to be old hands at this, unlike himself, who was so new to this he might as well be a new born baby out here. A girl sitting on the other side of him smiles at him in a way only Katelynn did when they were kissing and it made him feel slightly uncomfortable.

So he looked away from her, and focused on Katelynn with a smile.

“I hope I don’t scream too loud.” he said.

She reaches a hand out to hold his, intent on giving him strength throughout the ride. “It’s okay to scream, love. That’s sort of part of the fun?”

The machine began to whir then, moving slightly and gradually picking up speed. Katelynn grew excited, squeezing his hand gently as it went faster and faster, closing her eyes as a squeal ripped from her throat at the sensation of gravity pushing her back, not allowing her move.

“Non, I. I want to try ze new things.” Jack said in his strongest voice, looking at the ride. “I want to try. Et ez ze only way to grow.” he said stubbornly, holding her hand in his own tightly.

She smiled softly at him, unable to resist and kissing his chin. “My brave man,” she whispered, nuzzling him.

The ride eventually stopped as the people on it got off. Katelynn looked ahead, excitement bubbling up inside of her. She hadn’t been on rides in years. This was going to be fun!

They were ushered in and instructed on how to strap themselves down, Katelynn putting the harnesses on herself and watching over for Jack to make sure he could do it while the ride attendant went around checking to make sure everyone was strapped in.

Katelynn gave Jack a smile of encouragement.

He did his best to keep calm, really he did.

He stared for a moment and his heart screamed and tried to run but he stood still. Jack nodded his head, before taking her hand into his. “Zen we will try zees one.” he said, his accent still making him smile faintly, as he walks with her towards it. He was now glad he hadn’t eaten breakfast, less he throw it up…

She looked over her shoulder at him as they began to get in the line, only a few people in front of them. Once the ride stopped it would pretty much be their turn. “If there’s ever a ride you don’t want to try, love, just tell me okay? I don’t want to force you on anything you don’t want to get on.”

“Non, I. I want to try ze new things.” Jack said in his strongest voice, looking at the ride. “I want to try. Et ez ze only way to grow.” he said stubbornly, holding her hand in his own tightly.

Jack took the ticket from her and smiled faintly, before nodding, and looking down at the ticket then around him again. Even if there weren’t a sea of people blocking everything he still felt apprehensive. He’d never been to a fair before in his entire life. He felt scared, nervous, but was going to refuse to let it control him.

No one was looking at him. Nobody was freaking or asking if he was Megamind in disguise. He was ‘normal’ to these people.

“Candy apples…” he echoed quietly as he followed her through, showing his ticket, and being let in. “S-so what do you want to do first?”

Katelynn looked around quickly, her black hair whipping around her a bit. “Um..Well I really wanted to try that gravity ride last time I was here but I didn’t..it’s supposed to be pretty fun..” She pointed at where it was, the giant mechanism moving around in a fast circle as people screamed from the speed. They appeared to not be able to move from the force of gravity pushing them down.

He stared for a moment and his heart screamed and tried to run but he stood still. Jack nodded his head, before taking her hand into his. “Zen we will try zees one.” he said, his accent still making him smile faintly, as he walks with her towards it. Day at the Amusement Park

The sights and smells of Metro City Amusement Park were something Katelynn had smelled before, having been there with Alice, but now she was here with her boyfriend and she couldn’t be happier. She could ride any ride she wanted without worry over hurting a baby in her stomach and just enjoy being with him.

Because it was still after the holiday season and it was winter, there weren’t as man people as Jack would have feared, though they still trickled in and out of the park as Katelynn approached the window, buying two tickets for them.

“A Ferris wheel, a gravity ride, a log ride..so many things to do and cotton candy and candy apples!” Katelynn was telling Jack, feeling really excited about everything and handing him his ticket.

Jack took the ticket from her and smiled faintly, before nodding, and looking down at the ticket then around him again. Even if there weren’t a sea of people blocking everything he still felt apprehensive. He’d never been to a fair before in his entire life.
