Taking a Trip

wrapped-in-shadows:

“I-I like Dutch bread.” Jack admitted when the woman from the back, who looked like she was somewhere in her sixties but looked at least twenty years younger then that, came rushing up.

“Jack! You blue angel you where have you been? We heard you left for Metro City the day after your parents took off!” Mrs. Lee exclaimed.

“Y-you heard right Mrs. Lee.” he replied quietly, smiling faintly. “I’ve been there since… th-this is Katelynn my girlfriend.”

“Girlfriend oh bless your face you little boy.” Mrs. Lee all but gushed before looking at Katelynn. “Hello!”

“Hello!” Katelynn greeted again, smiling broadly. “It’s really nice to meet you Mrs. Lee. How are you doing today?”

“I’m very well thank you! So, Jack, the usual?” she asked as Mark was already picking up a loaf of Dutch bread.

“Y-yes please. Just a small one, we’re only here tonight.” he explained.
