Well the website had been right; this was a wonderful date idea and a lot of fun! It made her nervous sometimes because she wasn’t exactly witty and yet wanted to make Jack laugh with her lines.

“O-Oh! This song!” she cried softly as Sandra Dee began, Katelynn standing up to act out Rizzo’s lines as she really got into character even though she had been playing Sandy not to long ago when they sang Summer Nights together.

Look at me I’m Sandra Dee
Lousy with virginity~
Won’t go to bed until I’m legally wed
I can’t I’m Sandra Dee~”

Throughout the song she was moving her hips and acting just like the woman in the movie though it made her blush terribly at times for several reasons.

Watch it! Hey I’m Doris Day
I was not brought up that way
Won’t come across,
Even Rock Hudson lost
His heart to Doris Day

I don’t drink or swear
I don’t rat my hair
I get ill from one cigarette
Keep your filthy paws off my silky drawers

By this point she was blushing so bad she sat back down, her face so red you could cook an egg on it. “Obviously the character..not me that was suggesting it.”

Poor Jack was doubled over, laughing so much that tears were leaking from his eyes. He tried desperately to recover his voice, panting and gasping as he talked. “D-don’t worry, I kn-kn-know that.” He reached out for Katelynn, wanting to reassure her that he wasn’t laughing at her.

Finally, with Katelynn beside him on the couch again, he managed to calm down. “You’re good at this.” His arm slid around her waist, and a hot blush appeared in his own cheeks. “… M-maybe this makes me sound like a pig, but I’m glad we didn’t wait until we were wed.” He hugged her a little, still nervous to be talking about this. “I mean, I w-would have waited as long as you needed. I mean it. I already loved you so much back then. But, well …” Oh, he couldn’t put it into words.

Clinging to the front of his princely attire, Katelynn hid her face against his chest as he confessed that, hoping to hide away from the ridiculous amount of blushing she had done tonight. If he wasn’t careful she might faint from it.

“It doesn’t make you sound like a pig, love. If anything..I think I pretty much seduced you that first time and sometimes it made me guilty, like I should have waited longer. But that night was just so magical and you were so romantic and cute..No one had ever loved me like this before and I just..knew you were the perfect one because you stayed by my side at the hospital when no one else did. And you’ve only continued proving I made the right choice. So I guess waiting wouldn’t have mattered because of our desire to be together, right?”

She peeked up from his chest, smiling up at him and resting her chin there. “Still amazes me sometimes that you’re real and you loved me so fast..but waiting until after marriage seems rather antiquated now?”

Suddenly having an idea, she leaned up to whisper, “If you want, we can pretend tonight is the first time for both of us, maybe I’m Princess Katelynn and you’re the handsome Prince Jackson who rescues her and whisks her away to castle and takes her virginity?”

It was rather embarrassing to suggest but it could also be fun. They could even build a fort out of pillows to complete the stage. She ducked away from his eyes rather sheepishly.

He cradled her close against him, hugging her as she rested her head against his chest. Even if it might mess up their outfits, oh, he needed so badly to hold her after what she’d just said.

“Please, Katelynn, don’t feel guilty about it.” Jack nuzzled his cheek against her hair. “Never, ever feel guilty about it. What happened that night … it was so wonderful. I still think about it. N-not just because it was my first time, but because it was my first time with you.” He smiled softly. “If you seduced me, I was happy to be seduced."

His blue fingers combed gently through her sandy-brown hair. "We were meant for each other. Wh-when you love someone, when you want them, and you’re both sure of it … what’s the point of waiting? Real love happens so rarely. I never thought I’d find …” Jack realized he was rambling, so he stopped himself and simply hugged Katelynn tighter, letting his touch say all the things he couldn’t express in words.

And then he heard her idea. His eyes widened, and his cheeks turned purple again. Gulping, he managed to answer, “Uh … y-yes, we could do that. I’d like that. I’d like that very much.” He kissed her forehead. “You deserve your special night, Princess Katelynn. Your prince will see that you have it.”

Thinking about it, though, was going to make it hard for Jack to pay attention to the rest of movie.

“Yes!” She bounced happily, glad he had read her mind in a sense. ‘Summer Nights’ was one of the first songs and she wondered if Jack would play Danny’s role while she did Sandy’s.

Watching the opening sequence of the movie, she saw the two of them playing on the beach and before their goodbye.

Oh,” she began her lines, trying not to giggle. “I think you have some seaweed stuck in your teeth.” But she couldn’t stop herself and broke out into laughter.

Jack’s shoulders trembled as he tried not to laugh as well. Watching the movie with the sound off, without the romantic music, it did look somewhat silly.

“N-never!” he chuckled, trying to imitate Danny as Sandy chased him with a beach towel. “You’ll never use that on my hair! You’ll never take me alive!”

The two of them traded a few more lines, and then Jack was silent as the animated opening titles began.

Jack chuckled nervously from the kitchen, where he was setting the water to boil. “Actually, I’ve only seen it once. A few years ago …” You could almost hear him blush from the kitchen. “I’ve never been to a normal high school. I’d heard about this movie, and thought I might take a look, so I picked up a copy.”

He returned soon, carrying a smaller tray with two steaming mugs and the makings of tea. “It didn’t exactly answer my questions, but the music’s good. I wouldn’t mind seeing it again.”

“I don’t think musicals are proper portrayals of real life, love.” She giggled but kissed his cheek when he was close enough. Scooting over to the DVD player, she popped it in and got it ready for the two of them to watch. “But then again this one takes place in the 50s so we wouldn’t really know but real life never really breaks out into song and dance. Though it would be fun!”

Sitting back with him, she smiled and began to cut the cake while he prepared the tea, making sure to keep the television muted. “Do you want to improvise the dialogue and I can unmute it for the songs or do you want to try to come up with lyrics too?” she questioned, knowing either way it would be fun

“Heh, I don’t know about that,” he replied, smiling as she kissed him. “Some people would probably miss the rehearsals, and they’d be stuck just standing there while everyone else sang around them. That would be awkward.”

He settled in beside her, preparing tea for both of them; they’d lived together for long enough that he remembered how she usually liked hers. “Mmm, let’s leave it unmuted for the songs. The music was my favorite part of the movie. We can still have fun just singing along, can’t we?”

It continued to stun her as she stared at him for a few seconds, eyes glazed over and cheeks pink but she shook herself out of it and her lips stretched out into a bright smile. “Yes! It was um..a little date idea I saw online once. I thought it could be fun. We watch the movie while it’s on mute and improvise the dialogue.”

Picking up her skirt, she moved from the couch to the bookshelf of movies and searched for the title she had in mind. It was one she had decided on because of the plot and was a movie she had seen a few times. The music was something she had definitely enjoyed and acted out a few times.

Pulling it out, she showed it to him. “It has singing parts though but you own it so you must know that.” And her blush intensified.

She gasped, her body suddenly growing hot at the gesture as she leaned her head back only just to hide her blush. “G-Goodness sir..you put up a good fight..” His warm tongue felt so good on her cool skin that she felt if he kept that up she was sure to lose this little teasing bout.

Not that her shy painter wasn’t wonderful as he was but dressed as he was, talking like that – he seemed like a true prince. As a child she had often dreamed of being whisked away by one and here he was.

But kingdom or not she loved who he was on the inside. Smiling, she waited until he had completely licked her shoulder so she could lean over to peck his lips. “I concede defeat.” Mostly because if they continued this way then the fantasy was sure to be over with the removal of clothes. “Shall we eat cake and enjoy it over tea, sir?”

As fun as it would have been to keep going, Jack was content to stop. He wasn’t ready to take his costume off just yet, or risk getting frosting on Katelynn’s dress. Who knows – if the rest of the evening went well, maybe they could continue this later.

“As you wish, my love.” He kissed her hand, ever the gracious victor. “I’ll go make us a proper tea. And I believe you had a movie in mind?”

It continued to stun her as she stared at him for a few seconds, eyes glazed over and cheeks pink but she shook herself out of it and her lips stretched out into a bright smile. “Yes! Picking up her skirt, she moved from the couch to the bookshelf of movies and searched for the title she had in mind. It was one she had decided on because of the plot and was a movie she had never seen before – Grease.

Pulling it out, she showed it to him. “It has singing parts though but you own it so you must know that.” And her blush intensified.

Her giggles intensified at his playful nature, putting the cake off her lap so it wouldn’t topple over. Grabbing a bit more of the icing she smeared some on his lips like lipstick and kissed it off his lips, licking her own in the process. It was a rare moment when he decided to be silly like this and she couldn’t help but relish in it and see how far he was willing to go.

“So it’s a challenge then? Cause I don’t really think you could win against me~” she teased, taking the icing off her cheek and sucking on her finger, watching him from below her lashes.

When she teased him like that, Jack knew he didn’t stand a chance. Trying to sound valiant, he answered, “Perhaps not, but I shan’t go down easily.”

Being confident and playful like this was still so new to him. But when he was with Katelynn, somehow it became easier. Maybe it was because it was just the two of them, or because it was a special occasion. Or perhaps it was just her – some special thing about her that made it easy for the shy man to be brave enough to show how much he loved her.

He kissed her eagerly, tasting the icing and the familiar sweetness of her lips. Getting some more frosting on his fingers, he moved from her face to her bare shoulder, smearing a streak there and bending his head to lick it off slowly.

She gasped, her body suddenly growing hot at the gesture as she leaned her head back only just to hide her blush. “G-Goodness sir..you put up a good fight..” His warm tongue felt so good on her cool skin that she felt if he kept that up she was sure to lose this little teasing bout.

“S-Sorry..” she giggled, looking down at the beautiful design of the cake. “You do know it was going to be ruined anyway when we cut it?” It would be such a waste unless.. Reaching over to the table to grab one of her cameras, Katelynn positioned it just right to get a good angle on the cake, snapping photo’s of it so his hard work would be captured forever. “There..now I’ll always remember today.”

Giggling some more, she put a bit more on his face, dabbing the icing across his cheek this time and taking his picture. “And now you look extra delicious..” And leaned forward to lick the icing off his cheek.

He couldn’t help feeling a rush of pride as she took the photos. Yes, he’d known the decoration would be spoiled when they cut up the cake, but it was still nice to have a picture of it preserved. Not only his work, but the memory of this occasion. “Thank you for doing that, Katelynn.”

Jack shivered pleasantly, closing his eyes as she leaned in and licked him clean. It was just a playful little thing, he knew, but her tongue was so warm on his skin. And her choice of words – it sent his thoughts in directions that were not fairy-tale appropriate!

“Nn-” Fighting back those thoughts, he let Katelynn finish licking his cheek. Then, as she pulled back, he smirked at her, and smeared a streak of icing across her cheek. “Two can play at this game, my dear princess.”

Her giggles intensified at his playful nature, putting the cake off her lap so it wouldn’t topple over. Leaning into his embrace, she soaked up every moment of this; the atmosphere and the feel of his arms. He had truly made this so special for her and he probably didn’t even realize how much.

She nodded against him, wiping her eyes as discreetly as she could and feeling rather silly for getting so emotional. “Yes though I won’t tell you what it is~” she teased, sniffling lightly as she retracted from his embrace.

Closing her eyes, she made her wish, remembering the night of New Years when they had done the same and sent off their lanterns. I can’t help but wish for the same thing; hope that I’ll always be able to stay by Jack’s side and make him happy. He deserves it so much and I ended up failing this year..but next year for sure. We’re going to get married after all. So please, grant my wish! I’ll do my best on my end. Don’t ever take Jack from me.

Taking a deep breath, she blew the candle out and smiled, hoping it would really come true. Then she picked up some icing from the cake and smeared some on his nose, giggling a bit.

Jack, who had been watching Katelynn blow out the candle with a soft smile on his face, sat back in surprise as she dabbed the icing on his nose. “Wh-what was that for? My love, I put a lot of effort into decorating that for you …”

As he talked, however, his hand came creeping toward the cake. While he was surprised, he wasn’t really bothered – he’d known the icing would get messed up anyway, and he didn’t want to spoil her fun. As long as they didn’t ruin their clothes, he didn’t mind being a little silly.

It hadn’t felt like a real birthday until she set her eyes on the cake and they began to well up with emotion. How many years had she spent celebrating or even forgetting her own birthdays because she didn’t have anyone to spend them with? How she had looked forward to this one, to finally be with someone and have a good time only to think she had missed out because of what had happened.

Yet here was this wonderful man bringing her a cake and acting like a prince. Cupping her hand over her mouth, she held back a strangled sob as the tears began falling.

“I-It’s beautiful..” she managed to get out, her mouth spread wide into a smile. “Oh Jack..Sir Prince Jackson..”

Oh god, he’d made her cry. Even though Jack could tell they were happy tears, it still wasn’t what he’d wanted, at all. Biting his lip, he carefully set the tray down in Katelynn’s lap, and took a seat close beside her on the couch.

“It’s what you deserve, my love.” He put his arms around her and hugged her as best he could without upsetting the tray. “Even if it’s l-late, I still wanted you to have something special.”

He nodded toward the single candle. “D-do you want to make a wish?”

Leaning into his embrace, she soaked up every moment of this; the atmosphere and the feel of his arms. He had truly made this so special for her and he probably didn’t even realize how much.
