He smiled, and kissed her cheek softly. “Like I said… same for you too, in my place.” Jack steps back, touching her hair softly. “You said something about getting your legs cleaned?” he glances down at them, there’s a bit of plaster still on some of her legs, but only a bit here or there.

Blushes and moves about, gathering her things, cleaning up the casts to throw them away and move the wheelchair back to her apartment, rushing around. “R-Right! Um..I better go do that and let you get back to work.”

She pushes the wheelchair out, smiling at him. “S-See you later, l-love,” she calls over her shoulder, leaving towards her own apartment, face red.

“…l-later sweetie!” he calls out after her before doing a small spin on his feet before going back to work, grinning widely as he does. Oh. This is going to be wonderful, he just knows it. Katelynn, in the same apartment as him. She’s walking again. They have each others keys. It’s… wonderful.

“Oh… I… I see…!” he says brightly as he holds the key to his chest as if it were the most precious thing in the world, at least coming only second after herself. He pushes it into his pocket, before wrapping his arms around her, giving her a slight spin as he does. “T-thank you so much…!”

She holds onto him, giving a bigger giggle at the spin, feeling so giddy she felt like she could fly. “O-Of course, silly. Welcome any time, day or night…”

And she blushed, thinking of the future and wondering if she’d ever be sleeping into her apartment only to feel him crawl into bed with her. It sent a happy shiver down her spine.

He smiled, and kissed her cheek softly. “Like I said… same for you too, in my place.” Jack steps back, touching her hair softly. “You said something about getting your legs cleaned?” he glances down at them, there’s a bit of plaster still on some of her legs, but only a bit here or there.

“Really?” he asked quietly, just as touched she would trust him, a man, normally the least trustworthy half in a relationship (at least that’s how the movies showed it), a key to her apartment?

He reaches out and closes his hand over it, before looking at her. “…wow. Thank… thank you.”

She smiled at him, a look of complete trust on her face. “You’re welcome. My apartment is your apartment,” she replied softly. “You know like ‘my house is your house’ except well it’s an apartment.”

She giggled awkwardly, shrugging her shoulder, feeling shy around him suddenly. Of course Katelynn trusted Jack with all her heart. How could she not considering he was always there for her?

“Oh… I… I see…!” he says brightly as he holds the key to his chest as if it were the most precious thing in the world, at least coming only second after herself. He pushes it into his pocket, before wrapping his arms around her, giving her a slight spin as he does. “T-thank you so much…!”

“That’s no problem,” he replies softly, smiling still as his hands slowly release their hold on her. “You can always come by now, r-right? Here, here… I got this…” he moves a hand to his pocket and pulls out a blue key. He opens her hand, and places it into her palm and closes her hand around it. “It’s a key to my apartment. Y-you don’t have to give me one to yours, all right? But I just wanted to show you that you’re always welcome here. Any day. Any time. Any night. A-all right?”

She gasps softly, taking the key and looking at it. This was a huge step which meant a lot of trust and he trusted her enough with such a thing?

“Jack…” she whispered, looking up at him. “Actually…” She reached into her own pocket and took out the spare they had given to her, handing it off to him. “I want you to have mine too.”

“Really?” he asked quietly, just as touched she would trust him, a man, normally the least trustworthy half in a relationship (at least that’s how the movies showed it), a key to her apartment?

He couldn’t help but smile as she danced around the apartment, and gave a laugh before she grabbed his hands and pulled him towards her to dance. Jack blushes, but smiles, and begins to move with her. He isn’t the best at dancing but he’s doing his best for her, mindful of where he moves too.

“Oh it’s so wonderful, Katelynn!” he gasps, “You’re walking again this, this is so wonderful…! We can go anywhere! There’s n-nothing stopping us at all!”

She giggles, feeling happiness bubbling up and overflowing inside of herself. “Yeah, no more worries about things! We can go back to taking walks together and what not.”

It meant cuddling would be easier as well, a shy smile creeping along her face at the thought.

She leaned forward to kiss his cheek before leaving another kiss on his lips. “I’m going to go ahead and clean up my legs and let you get back to work. Thank you so much for taking the casts off.”

“That’s no problem,” he replies softly, smiling still as his hands slowly release their hold on her. “You can always come by now, r-right? He blinks. “Really? Oh.. y-yes! Yes please, I. I would love to go on a date with you…!” did it make sense that they had been a couple this long, had made love on New Years Day, only now they were going to go on a date together? Probably not, but he didn’t care about that.

Jack returned with the device, continued to cut just the last few inches before pulling away. “A-and there…! This should do it…” and he works it off, like he did the last, and sets it aside. “There you go…!”

She takes her legs out, stretches and wiggles her toes, a pleased smile on her face. “I’m me..I’m free again!”

She gets up, excited, twirling around his apartment, her hair moving around her like a ribbon as she squeals and bounces, being careful not to bump into anything. She dances, she sings, she continues to squeal, enjoying the feeling of being back to her normal sense.

She stopped to twirl on one leg, smiling at Jack. “This is wonderful! I feel so strong!” She runs over to take his hands, trying to get him to dance with her, giggling as she went.

“I don’t think it’s different.” Jack admits honestly as he pulls the machine away, lifting a hand to brush her hair out of her face gently. “Katelynn… every part of you is beautiful. I don’t care if you have hairy legs, hairy underarms, of anything like that…! You’re beautiful. One hundred percent.”

He was always complimenting her, causing her to feel slightly guilty. She really needed to start seeing herself in his eyes sometimes but it was just so hard. All she had ever seen was a plain girl.

“A-All right,” she replied, lifting her eyes slightly as she watched him through her lashes, a small smile breaking out into her face. “I’ll try to believe it then…”

She tried wiggling her leg out of the cast from what had been cut already, managing to wiggle out of it slightly. It sure wasn’t easy to get off this way.

“Y-You know..I was thinking…if you’d like to go on a date or something? I mean if you’re not busy with work! We don’t have to do it right now. I mean in the future when you have free time. I just thought..out of the hospital, legs healed, we’re dating..we could have our first real date or something.”

He blinks. “Really? Oh.. y-yes! Yes please, I. I would love to go on a date with you…!” did it make sense that they had been a couple this long, had made love on New Years Day, only now they were going to go on a date together? Probably not, but he didn’t care about that.

Jack helps her, keeping her hand steady with his own steady hand, only this way after years of painting and playing the guitar.

“Sweetie,” he whispers softly. “I’ve seen a lot more than your legs, r-remember…?” he only says this when he knows he has a firmer grip on it than she does, in case his words make her blush and uncertain.

Sure enough she lets out a squeak, her hand faltering a bit as her face brightens like a red Christmas light. She ducks her head so much, her hair is shielding her face from him. “W-Well yeah! I k-know that but..it was..different…?”

It was, wasn’t it? Her exposure to him had been purely passionate; a loving gesture of trust and offering. She was at her best, she guessed, at that moment. Hairy legs are women at their worst in her mind. Men always voiced how women with hairy legs were so gross after all.

“I don’t think it’s different.” Jack admits honestly as he pulls the machine away, lifting a hand to brush her hair out of her face gently. “Katelynn… every part of you is beautiful. “Oh it isn’t too bad…!” Jack said as encouragingly as he could, rubbing one of her hands with his own. “Don’t worry, you’ll be out of the other one really quick…!”

She lifted her face to his, her eyes imitating those of a hurt puppy. “It’s still embarrassing having you see my leg like that,” she complained slightly, though a smile tugged at her lips.

Her cast wet enough, she reached for the pizza cutter and tried doing it, her tongue sticking out in concentration.

Jack helps her, keeping her hand steady with his own steady hand, only this way after years of painting and playing the guitar.

“No, nobody does but it happens.” Jack admits as he finally reaches the end of the cast. “Ah, here we go… l-let’s focus on better things. Let me see…”

He tugs at it, and it begins to crack under his pressure, and the cast splits open in half revealing her leg. It’s a little wrinkly, and maybe a bit hairy but it’s healed. Jack smiles at it, before working the cast away entirely.

She tucks her leg away from him, covering it with her dress and blushing, completely embarrassed.

“J-Just one more now…” She reached for the sponge, deciding to do it on her own this time now that she had seen how he had done it. It saddened her that she hadn’t been able to bring a smile to her face. She was a terrible girlfriend.

“Oh it isn’t too bad…!” Jack said as encouragingly as he could, rubbing one of her hands with his own. “Don’t worry, you’ll be out of the other one really quick…!”
