He hummed as he felt her hands touch him again, shutting his eyes as she did. Jack lifted his hands; revealing he’s wearing a pair like hers, and touches her wrists gently.

“I’d like to think you don’t cause any trouble while sleeping, Katelynn.” he opens his eyes. “Unless we’d hear more about Hot Flash setting fire to her own lairs.”

“I probably could though,” she replied, biting on her bottom lip a moment, though her voice was merely curious and not sadness so much. “I mean..who knows what happens to me when I sleep. And I’ll make the bed cold. It’d probably be best if I slept outside or maybe the floor or something.”

“You are not sleeping on the floor.” Jack said sternly as he pulled his hand away before returning to the bathroom and pulled out, slowly, a whole freaking bed cover made of the same material. “Behold. Insulated to keep your cold at bay. It will keep your body its natural body temperature, so you won’t freeze anything while you sleep.”

Even with them on, it felt like she wasn’t wearing them. They seemed to blend against her skin, dispersing warmth, working in some… strange, alien technology kind of way.

Jack smiled, took her hands, and pressed them to his face. He shut his eyes as he held her hands there, before pulling his face away. There were no ice burns to his face whatsoever. “See? I made them while you guys were out there.”

“Oh Jack..” she whispered, her lips curving up into a smile. “I can’t believe you did this..this is amazing!”

She reached up to his cheeks again, caressing the skin, being able to actually feel him through the gloves. She could touch him. Oh god she could touch him.

She wanted to hug him but only her hands were protected so she caressed his skin instead, looking at him with eyes filled with love.

“Thank you Jack..Now if only..if only I could figure out how to work my powers when I sleep..”

“Hey!” Jack sticks his head out of the doorway. “Look at this, Katelynn…!” he walks out of the bathroom and holds up two gloves. They looked to be made of silvery material with blue light up edges around the fingers. “Try these on, please?”

Her plans momentarily forgotten at the sight of the gloves, Katelynn gently reached out for them, slipping them on her fingers. “You managed to do the gloves,” she whispered, feeling how they warmed her hands a bit.

“These will..make it possible for me to touch without frosting anything?”

Even with them on, it felt like she wasn’t wearing them. They seemed to blend against her skin, dispersing warmth, working in some… strange, alien technology kind of way.

“Bye!” Jack calls from the bathroom.

Katelynn waved him off, floating in the air and it was then she began to notice that people had been staring at them a bit, causing her to blush as she flew back into the window of the apartment, having heard him from the bathroom. She would have to work hard to keep her powers under control if she wanted to play around with him like this.

“Jack?” she called out softly, seeing Stella come near her. “No girl..don’t touch me. I’m cold..”

“Hey!” Jack sticks his head out of the doorway. “Look at this, Katelynn…!” he walks out of the bathroom and holds up two gloves. They looked to be made of silvery material with blue light up edges around the fingers. “Try these on, please?”

She watched him go, a secretive little smile on her face. Yes, she was sure going t enjoy tickling him and torturing him later on for that.

But for now she turned back to Metro Man to continue training, trying her best to do every move as instructed. Practice seemed to go on for a while until Katelynn was finally getting it down pat.

She stood near Metro Man, a pleased look on his face. “Call it a day then?” she asked him, pleased at her progress.

Yeah, you did well. Anyway, I’ll leave you two love birds alone. [He floats effortlessly back out the window.] Bye, Katelynn. Goodbye, Jack. It was nice seeing you again. [He waves as he flies off.]

“Bye!” Jack calls from the bathroom.

[He freezes and examines the situation. Him waving a broom around and Katelynn stretching out for it. Yeah, that was about right. He starts laughing.]

Katelynn froze when she heard her boyfriend shout, having not heard him be so loud before, her arms outstretched and stuck in place. She looked off to where he stood at the window and blew a raspberry at him before giggling.

Make fun of her will he. Oh later on he’d see.

He saw this and gasped in mock shock, and put a hand to his chest. “Why I never.” he said to her before turning his nose up, shutting his eyes, but smirked as he vanished back into the apartment.

Good. Let’s try a moving target then. [The broom is swung slowly through the air, making random patterns.]

“H-Hey, no fair meanie!” she slightly pouted, her arms reaching out again as she tried to follow the broom and capture it, her mentality now on the Karate Kid when Mr. Miyagi had tried to catch a fly with chopsticks.

It seemed to help her, catching the broom a few times though missing a bit at other times, her flying movements nice and smooth.

Jack had been standing at his window watching all this play out, before he cupped his hands over his mouth and shouted out.

“YOU LOOK LIKE YOU’RE PLAYING WITH A CAT, METS!”

That’s fine. Are you trying the end of it to something or am I holding it?

She looked around for a way to tie it and decided that wasn’t such a good idea. “I guess you can hold onto it. You’re stronger than some fixture in here I guess…”

She would probably drag anything else with her if she tried.

“That does make better sense.” Jack said with a nod of his head as he looked at the end of the tie in his hand, before walking up to Metro Man and hands it over to him. “Don’t loose her.” he says this, not in a threatening way, but it wasn’t exactly a friendly request, either.

He smiled at her and reached out, daring to rub her arm but he was wearing gloves now, so the risk isn’t as bad if it were his bare hands. “You can do this Katelynn. You have so much strength in you, I see it all the time. Now you get to use it, to show us what you’re made of, for however long this lasts!”

She stared at him a moment, pushing all fear back and wishing to try. He believed in her so fully it was easy to gain strength from him, even if he was a more confident Jack. She missed her Jack, the shy one who gave her shy glances and kisses, but at least he was still here with her.

All fear gone, she leaned forward and pressed her lips to his a moment, feeling no ice come from her lips. She dared not let it last long, pulling back from him after a moment, and gave him a smile.

“I can do this..because you believe in me..see? I can already kiss you and control my fear thanks to you. I didn’t ice your lips..”

He blinked in surprise, before lifting his hand and touched his lips. Sure enough… she hadn’t frozen his lips or anything. Jack smiles brightly, as he looks at her, and touched her hands with his, his eyes brimming with a look she knew. Total adoration, love, and support. A look she’d seen so many times in his eyes before. The Jack she had fallen in love with, that shy, quiet spoken man was still here; just behind a mask. That was all.

“You didn’t. See?” he asks, “You can do anything.”

Jack is there, rushing over to her, and reaches out to her and touches her legs, pretty sure she doesn’t want to float out the window just yet but it’s hard to tell. “Katelynn, Katelynn it’s okay, it’s okay… here, here!” he grabs a cord, the same one he used before, and ties it around her ankle. “I’ll secure it in here, and it’s one of those super long ones so you should be okay… okay?”

She holds onto the rope, pulling herself back near the window and sits on the sill, holding on tight with a slightly scared look in her eyes. The sill where she sits begins to frost for a moment while she collects herself and sighs, willing herself to calm down. She was lucky her powers hadn’t hurt Jack too while she was out there scared.

“O-Okay..sorry..my thoughts.. they seem to make me float when I think about flying..but I guess now with this cord it’ll be like my training rope..” She smiles at him, her face flushed.

He smiled at her and reached out, daring to rub her arm but he was wearing gloves now, so the risk isn’t as bad if it were his bare hands. “You can do this Katelynn.
