“Mm.” Jack nodded before he pulled back, picked up her brush, and began brushing again. “If we’re doing all right, that we’re happy… you know… t-that sort of thing…” though his mother had asked if they’d made love yet. He told her it was too early for that and he was respecting Katelynn’s wishes in how fast they went. That was before her accident, though, and the question hadn’t come up since then. “There we go your hair is… all combed. Do you want me to braid it?”

She reached up and gathered it all, leaving it over her shoulder as it cascaded over her breast and down into her lap, wondering if this was okay. “I think I’ll leave it free for now..thank you captain,” she winked at him, giggling.

“But it’s really nice of her..to ask all the time..It must be nice having them check up on you.”

“Oh, well since they started travelling all they can do is really call me, I haven’t seen them in person since that photo…” he gestured to the one in her hand still.

“And who’s fault is that?”

The woman’s voice came from the door causing Jack to turn around, smile already in place. There in the door way stood the couple. Aloysius was as tall as he appeared in the photo whilst Bonnie was around the same height as Jack. Maybe a smidge taller.

“H-hey!” Jack hurried to them, arms out, and Bonnie pulled him into her arms first. “You’re here!”

“I said we’d be here,” she scolded playfully as Aloysius walked around the two, pausing to patting his son on the shoulder before approaching Katelynn on the bed. “Stop acting so surprised!”

Aloysius nods at Katelynn in greeting and held his hand out to her. “Aloysius Maple.” his voice was so deep it could probably make the ground quake if he tried hard enough. “Great to meet you.”

“Captain.” he corrected her with a small chuckle before settling against her back only just, staring down at the photograph, and rests his chin on her shoulder. “So yeah… that’s my parents. They adopted me when I was eight years old, and… yeah. They’re wonderful. Aloysius taught me how to play the guitar, Bonnie taught me how to paint… a-and both taught me everything else. I’m sure they’ll love you.” he added the last part softly, kissing her shoulder. “Ever s-since she found out you’re my girlfriend Bonnie has been calling asking how we are…”

“How we are?” she asked softly, his proximity causing a bit of a blush as her senses were surrounded by his scent. It caused her heart to race and somehow made her happy that he could still affect her this way; that excited flutter in her stomach whenever they touched.

“Mm.” Jack nodded before he pulled back, picked up her brush, and began brushing again. “If we’re doing all right, that we’re happy… you know… t-that sort of thing…” though his mother had asked if they’d made love yet. “Easy, easy…!” Jack laughed. Why hadn’t he mentioned what his parents did before? He should have known the fact his father photographed for a career would have made her happy. But he hadn’t known she was into writing. That was wonderful too. “Oh wait here…” Jack settled her brush down and fumbled with his wallet. He pulled out a picture, a photograph just under a year old, and brought it around for her to see. “Here they are… Aloysius and Bonnie Maple with some weird blue guy. I don’t know his name.”

She giggled, staring at the photograph. “I wouldn’t say he’s weird. He’s actually quite handsome. I believe his name is Jack Sparrow.”

Though she was teasing him, her eyes also roamed onto the kind faces of his parent’s, seeing two lovely people. What a contrast to her own parent’s, who both dressed so conservatively with starch clothing. His mom was especially lovely looking, a kind smile on her face.

“They sound as kind as they look…” she said softly.

“Captain.” he corrected her with a small chuckle before settling against her back only just, staring down at the photograph, and rests his chin on her shoulder. “So yeah… that’s my parents. Jack helped, by opening the side draw on the bedside cabinet next to her and pulled out her big brush he had brought from her apartment. “Here, let. Let me help you.” he insists and is soon sitting on the side of the bed, running the brush down her hair gently.

“You shouldn’t be scared, my… my parents are really laid back people. If you have any questions about them you can ask me now..?”

She turned her eyes to him, her eyes soft as she regarded him. He was brushing her hair, how adorable! “Thank you, Jack,” she said, closing her eyes. When he asked her about his parent’s, however, she kept her eyes closed, trying to think of questions. She had many and wasn’t sure where to begin.

“I-I guess..if you think you’re parent’s will like me? What do they like to do? Something I can talk to them about? I mean..you remember what I said about mine..I don’t have much experience with p-parental figures.”

“Of course they will… I don’t see why they wouldn’t.” he said quietly as he continued running the brush through her long, lovely hair. “Actually, my father is a photographer. He goes around the country with my mother taking photos for people. A lot of his work is used in calendars and things like that… he enters contests, wins awards… m-my mother is an author. She writes novels but she also writes columns for gardening magazines.”

He took her hand carefully, giving her a ‘are you sure?’ look, before slowly putting the phone to his ear. “Y-yeah Bonnie. She’d love to, but she’s still recovering so you can’t stay long… yes… all right. We’re at the Metro City Mercy Hospital. Yes, you know… all right. We’ll see you in a few…! Bye…” he hung up, staring at the phone. “They just got into town so it might take them half an hour to get here… gives.. um. Some time to prepare?” he asked weakly.

She tried to smile, but it came out a bit nervous, her free hand going up to try to tame her braided hair. “I-I guess it gives me time to comb my hair or something..so I don’t look like this..I mean..I’m meeting your parent’s..w-wow..this is a big step..”

She tries to remember where her comb is as she undoes the braid to let her hair go free.

Jack helped, by opening the side draw on the bedside cabinet next to her and pulled out her big brush he had brought from her apartment. “Here, let. Let me help you.” he insists and is soon sitting on the side of the bed, running the brush down her hair gently.

Jack had just been walking into Katelynn’s hospital room, smiling in greeting when he saw her there, when his cell phone suddenly rang.

“Oh! Ah, sorry…!” Jack said to her apologetically as he approached her and slipped his phone out of his pocket and looked at the name. He blinked in surprise. “Oh…” he answered. “Bonnie…! He-hello! How are you, where, where are…” he paused, his green eyes widening slightly. “Really? You are? Here? H-hang on…”

He pressed the phone to his chest and looked at Katelynn. “My parents are in town. They just made it and… th-they want to see you.”

Katelynn stared at him, stunned. His parent’s were here? Oh god. She had little experience with parent’s, her own being the only ones she had ever really talked to. But Jack’s parent’s were nice. His mom, from what she remembered on the phone, was very kind.

“I uh..I can’t wait,” she replied, mostly stunned with a hint of fear.

He took her hand carefully, giving her a ‘are you sure?’ look, before slowly putting the phone to his ear. “Y-yeah Bonnie.
