“Hm. I don’t really… hrm.” Jack frowned slightly before he chuckled. “If you believe I am… I think I’ll begin to believe it, too… If only for your sake. …but… maybe a bit for myself, as well… I don’t want to be weak. I want to be stronger so if I think those things… maybe I’ll believe them and be better for it.”

She nodded, content with that answer. “Good, because it’s all true. So keep believing it and repeating it to yourself. Don’t ever doubt yourself, just as you don’t towards me.”

She kissed his cheek, nuzzling him and looking forward towards the future with him.

It looked even brighter thanks to him.

“Absolutely nothing.” he said simply. “With you here.. I don’t think anything could be wrong.” Jack added.

She blushed deeply, settling back into him, feeling his chest against her back. “Jack, did you know you were always so wonderful?”

“Hm. I don’t really… hrm.” Jack frowned slightly before he chuckled. “If you believe I am… I think I’ll begin to believe it, too… If only for your sake. …but… maybe a bit for myself, as well… I don’t want to be weak. “…to be honest so am I.” he admitted on a chuckle, opening his eyes so he could look into her own for a moment. “I half expected a doctor to walk in or the old man in the other room to wake up or something but it didn’t, did it?” Jack smiled wider before giving her a quick peck on the lips. “Good luck. I think we need it, at least for a while… huh?”

“What is it?” she asked, blinking. “What’s wrong?”

“Absolutely nothing.” he said simply. “With you here.. I don’t think anything could be wrong.” Jack added.

Jack had turned his head when he heard the nurse enter and he stared at her with a surprised expression but… he hadn’t been embarrassed. Or nervous. He’d actually smiled at her faintly as she left, before giving out a small laugh that mixed and bubbled against Katelynn’s own, before pressing his forehead to hers and shut his eyes.

“Well that was interesting.” he whispered.

Confidence in his voice.

Katelynn looked up at him with a slightly surprised look in her eyes, watching him for a moment before a huge smile broke out on her face. Oh how she hoped this new confidence wouldn’t slip away.

“And funny too,” she commented, giggling. “I’m surprised no one walked in sooner.”

He didn’t hear her, not really, but that didn’t stop him from holding her. Nothing would dare to stop him from holding her at this moment.

Nothing.

The nurse walked in with her medication but stumbled back upon seeing them. “Oh, sorry,” she replied, quickly leaving it on the little table by her bed before moving away. The scene had been intimate but sweet to her, something she didn’t want to disturb.

Katelynn blinked a bit after her, blushing, before she let out a giggle.

He nodded his head as he simply held her, allowing his heart to finally ease back down to a pace in which it didn’t feel like a bongo drum. Or a humming birds wings. Jack sighed softly, pressing another kiss to her temple, and another. Because he could.

“We’ll both be stronger. For ourselves and each other. Yes siree bob.” he smiled faintly before settling himself against her with the ambition of not moving from this spot until some force dare try to remove himself from her.

And it’d have to be something pretty big.

She smiled, nuzzling against him. “I told you you were brave and strong…you should trust in me more..”

“Sorry. I will in future. I promise.” Jack replied softly, brushing his chin against the top of her head softly. “And same goes for you… all right…?”

His green eyes blinked slowly as he listened to her. They, like her own, were heavy with want, with a desire that he hadn’t felt stir so fast within him so quickly over any body before. He had a better idea, as to why he felt this way; why he felt hot, and wanted so much… more. But he was also a gentleman, and a gentleman never voices those kinds of emotions to a woman. Especially the woman they adored, and so early on into a relationship.

He smiled faintly at her request, before he pulled her to him again, mindful of her injuries and the IV she still wore, and shut his eyes.

“…only one thing would make me leave you, Katelynn…” he whispered. “And that won’t happen for a very, very, very long time…” if he could help it. Death was something he knew much of, having witnessed his grandmother pass away in her bed at their family home. How he’d held her hand in his as her last breath lost her and she moved on to ‘beyond’, whatever awaited them all. His parents hoped for an equally calm, peaceful passing.

So did Jack.

He didn’t think about it too much but now, honestly, only death would rip him from her. Nothing else would do it. “I don’t care what else gets between us.” he said quietly. “Distance, people, bad guys, good guys I don’t… I don’t care about all of that. It won’t stop how I feel about you or, or that I don’t want to loose you either…” he pressed a kiss to her temple, shutting his eyes. “Nothing will stop what I feel..”

She smiled softly, resting against him, feeling her heart swell with love. She closed her eyes happily, humming softly.

He truly was her prince.

The butterflies in her stomach soared for him as she replied softly, “Neither will mine…We’ll face it all together and come out stronger…you’ll see..”

He nodded his head as he simply held her, allowing his heart to finally ease back down to a pace in which it didn’t feel like a bongo drum. Or a humming birds wings. Jack sighed softly, pressing another kiss to her temple, and another. Because he could.

He was by no means muscular, of course not. Could his people have been muscular, at all, or was he just a naturally slender, thin man? Impossible to say, to dare to guess, but he was by no means scrawny. She could feel the shape of his chest, how he had some slight muscle build that remained hidden beneath his loose fitting art shirts she’d seen him in, or in the black turtle necks he tended to wear any time he went outside.

Like now. As always, that black turtleneck was in place.

Though, for a brief, flashing moment he wished it wasn’t. To feel her hands touching his bare chest, to have her fingers brush over the faint chest hair he had, or… or even touch his nipples but oh my GOD he did not just think that at all. He shuddered at the thought and his own legs shifted, slightly, before the inevitable happened.

The kiss slowly, softly, almost like a sigh, broke. Both were unaware of the small trail of spit that connected their mouths. Thankfully so, since one, or both, might have died of embarrassing. Jack’s heart felt like it was about set to erupt out of his chest and go flying across the room, and his face felt so hot. But he opened his eyes and smiled at her shakily, cheeks and nose, as well as ears, tinted purple.

Only one word to explain all this.

“W-wow.”

She opened her eyes at the loss of contact, her hand stilling against him as she blinked a bit, eyes dark with lust she felt but wasn’t completely aware of. Her head titled to the side, a hand reaching up to lightly touch at her red, swollen lips.

She took a deep breath, trying to get back under control. “Y-…Yeah…” she sighed out happily, a smile breaking out on her face. She tried to find the right words to say after that, so many words exchanged by action instead.

At least she had managed to make him feel better, soothing his earlier anxiety over like a cool balm.

Oh how she hoped she could be by his side forever.

“Jack…” she whispered softly, gazing at him. “Don’t ever disappear..please…”

She had shared her fear with him, wondering how he would react. Was it asking too much?

His green eyes blinked slowly as he listened to her. They, like her own, were heavy with want, with a desire that he hadn’t felt stir so fast within him so quickly over any body before. His palms pressed against her, pulling, pushing, massaging, any and everything all at once since her body felt so warm, so welcoming and perfect to him. She was perfect. She couldn’t see that, he knew, but he tried to show her this every day he saw her. How he would draw for her, play his guitar, touch her hand or kiss her in any way he dared. Now though, this was a way of kissing they had finally dared to try and it was as wonderful as he had anticipated it to be.

But mostly because she was the other person he was sharing it with.

If he had his say, and he hoped he did in this manner, no body else would kiss her like this. It was foolish to be possessive though, and to think like that. His parents had told him love came and went, but to always hold onto those you love at the time as much as you could, to let them know you love them now rather than later.

He would show Katelynn every second of the day how much he adored her if he could but it would probably be overwhelming.

“Mnnhh…” he breathed through his nose as their tongues pushed together, and he felt her tongue slip into his mouth to join his before he pushed back, his allowing itself entrance to her mouth instead. He could taste the sandwich she had taken a few bites of, and her toothpaste just beyond that. An odd combination but not unpleasant because it was her lips, her breath, her… gosh. Her taste

Only now did the anxieties finally fall silent.

Oh whatever being in the sky, he was making noises and she felt her face flame up, her tongue dancing a bit more against his in reaction to it. He was stirring up a new feeling she had never felt before, her thighs rubbing together in an unsure way.

What was happening to her there? Was this normal?

Her mind wondered about it while her mouth was busy against his, her tongue feeling like it was dancing with his to a song only they could hear. This felt wonderful, fantastic even, and she knew when it ended she would dream of it.

When she had been young she had dreamed of prince charming, of being swept off her feet to live happily ever after. The fantasy had ended eventually but it felt like now it was coming back, imagining Jack as that prince. He definitely was, at least to her. She had finally found her prince.

The hands holding fistfuls of his shirt loosened, her palms resting against his chest to caress and roam, feeling his lean muscles. His body was perfect to her in every way and she began to wonder what he looked like under the shirt.

Her face turned into a cherry at the thought, bringing her mind back to the kiss.

He was by no means muscular, of course not. Could his people have been muscular, at all, or was he just a naturally slender, thin man? Impossible to say, to dare to guess, but he was by no means scrawny. If her mind was screaming, Jack’s was conducting a full orchestra with speakers plugged in that enhanced the volume into ultimate surround sound only to have it channeled directly back into his poor ears. He’d never kissed a girl before her. Never kissed anyone besides his parents cheeks and foreheads; and that hardly counted when it came down to it.

But for Katelynn… for Katelynn he was more than willing to live through all the screams of his mind, all of them for her. His anxieties had to melt at some point, they had to, no way would they keep voicing their opinions so noisily with her lips so close to his, with her breath mixing with his own and her body molding against his as if they’d been built specifically for one another just at this moment.

One of his hands remained on her shoulder whilst the other moved down her body, slowly, gently, ever so carefully until he wrapped down around her back, holding and caressing, keeping her close as well as safe. Of course they were safe, they were in a hospital, yet he was still plagued by the idea of something happening. Of waking up alone in his bed, that this was nothing but an elaborately long dream sequence and he wold wake up without knowing her, without touching or kissing her.

Their tongues finally met, though it was just the tips that finally brushed against one another. Jack’s shivered and for a moment wanted to vanish back into the depths of his mouth out of shame and embarrassment since he had never kissed someone like this… but neither had she. They were both equally new to this sort of thing, so why was he feeling shy? Or embarrassed? It made no sense. Shutting his eyes on a soft, pleased noise, he pushed his tongue forward so it brushed more against hers.

It sent spikes through his body, mind, and soul at the sensation. No wonder they always kissed like this in the movies. It was the next step up. They weren’t innocent little children stealing kisses behind a school yard fence any more. They were beyond that… and he had taken those steps with her. And he loved her even more for it.

She sighed happily, completely lost in him, her mind shutting down all thought at his tongue touching hers, her own snaking back against his. Her heart was hammering in her chest so hard she was sure he could feel it against his own.

These were the adult kisses she had seen at times, wondering if she would ever experience one and then having shaken her head at the thought, wondering who would ever want to do that with her.

But Jack did. And was.

She inched closer, her lips once again taking his as she let out wanting breaths through her nose. She was well aware of his hands on her, her skin feeling like it was on fire wherever he touched, even if cloth separated his fingers from her skin.

She let instinct take over, following his lead and hoping he continued to be brave, drawing him out of his shell with the strength of her love for him.

His palms pressed against her, pulling, pushing, massaging, any and everything all at once since her body felt so warm, so welcoming and perfect to him. She was perfect.
