His eyes, bright, green, acidic, unlike normal green eyes you would see on people from time to time, stared back into her own with a look that she thought only existed in films and literature. His eyes were always so expressive of his feelings, denying him, fighting him, exposing when he felt most vulnerable despite trying to hid it behind a mask.
But they were as open, and honest, as always and he was looking at her as if she was the only woman in the world, the most beautiful, most important, most special… as if she was it, and he knew how lucky he was to be this close to her. Because, honestly, he knew how lucky he was. Almost thirty years old, Jack Maple was, and had gone this long without a girl showing the slightest bit of interest in him. The fact that her, the soft spoken photographer, had welcomed him like this into her heart was nothing short of a miracle for him.
He smiled against her lips, shakily, and he returned the sensation of her tongue just touching his bottom lip by doing the same. He, slightly cheekily, slightly shyly, slid his tongue out and brushed it against her bottom lip.
She moved closer to him still, entranced by him, her chest pumping up against his, her arms the only thing separating them as she sucked in a soft breath, her tongue hesitantly reaching out for his.
Her mind screamed at her, asking her when she had become this brave. She had shied away from many men, never interested in them because they never stirred her heart like Jack had done, Jack who was so different from any guy in ways of his personality. She had never noticed his skin color, seeing only his eyes and the emotions behind them, falling for his personality and soul. It was why it was so easy to be with him and love him.
She was lucky the old man in the bed next to her was asleep, the curtain pulled to give him, and thus them, privacy.
She was happy, at the same time, to see him be bold enough to do what he was doing to her, feeling herself melt against him at his gentle and teasing caresses. She loved how she fit against him, her body feeling as if it had been molded for him.
If her mind was screaming, Jack’s was conducting a full orchestra with speakers plugged in that enhanced the volume into ultimate surround sound only to have it channeled directly back into his poor ears. He’d never kissed a girl before her. Never kissed anyone besides his parents cheeks and foreheads; and that hardly counted when it came down to it.
But for Katelynn… for Katelynn he was more than willing to live through all the screams of his mind, all of them for her. His anxieties had to melt at some point, they had to, no way would they keep voicing their opinions so noisily with her lips so close to his, with her breath mixing with his own and her body molding against his as if they’d been built specifically for one another just at this moment.
One of his hands remained on her shoulder whilst the other moved down her body, slowly, gently, ever so carefully until he wrapped down around her back, holding and caressing, keeping her close as well as safe. Of course they were safe, they were in a hospital, yet he was still plagued by the idea of something happening. Of waking up alone in his bed, that this was nothing but an elaborately long dream sequence and he wold wake up without knowing her, without touching or kissing her.
Their tongues finally met, though it was just the tips that finally brushed against one another. Jack’s shivered and for a moment wanted to vanish back into the depths of his mouth out of shame and embarrassment since he had never kissed someone like this… but neither had she. They were both equally new to this sort of thing, so why was he feeling shy? Or embarrassed? It made no sense. Shutting his eyes on a soft, pleased noise, he pushed his tongue forward so it brushed more against hers.
It sent spikes through his body, mind, and soul at the sensation. No wonder they always kissed like this in the movies. It was the next step up. They weren’t innocent little children stealing kisses behind a school yard fence any more. They were beyond that… and he had taken those steps with her. And he loved her even more for it.
