Jack smiled faintly, and shrugged his shoulders, before he pulled the blanket back for Katelynn as Six guided her back to the bed. “It’s your fault she cares about you so much.” he smiled faintly.

She looked between the two of them, giving them a slight pout. “Of course I care a lot..how could I not?” And they were guiding her back to bed and she just had to smile a little.

“And you two don’t have to treat me like I’m some sort of invalid..I’m fine!” she tried to reassure them, not putting up much of a fight.

“You’re still sore. That’s enough reason.” Jack said stubbornly as he took her hand as she sat back down. “You won’t heal quickly if you keep jumping everywhere.”

“Six!” she cried, a relieved smile appearing on her face. She gently took Jack’s arms from around her and got up as gently as she could, rushing over to give Six a hug, feeling so relieved that he looked just as he had left. “I was—I was so worried!” She held onto him tightly, letting the relief course through her like a balm.

He was back. He was okay. Thank goodness.

“Tsk,” Six clicked his tongue as he wrapped his arms around her gently, resting his temple against hers for a moment. “I told you I’d be back. I promised, after all.” he pointed out before pulling back, but beginning to guide her to the bed. He glanced at Jack. “Sorry if I upset her too badly.”

Jack smiled faintly, and shrugged his shoulders, before he pulled the blanket back for Katelynn as Six guided her back to the bed. “It’s your fault she cares about you so much.” he smiled faintly.

“Katelynn, stop that, stop it…!” Jack reached for her hands and managed to tear them away from her hair without ripping any hairs out with her fingers. “Six came by? What, what do you mean danger? What happened, where did he go…?” he asked, unsure of anything and feeling so lost. Something he was beginning to feel a lot of, lately.

She tried to take a calming breath, tried to stop shaking, but thinking about Six made it difficult. “He..He came to see me..” she began, not looking at the blue man before her or risk whimpering some more. “He saw me..and I told him what happened with Hot Flash..and he went running after her..” She shuddered, the tears still falling. “He said he was going to go after her because of me..He’s going to get hurt Jack and it’ll be all my fault!”

She moved gently against Jack, wishing for his strength and understanding. She felt so weak and felt so guilty for worrying everyone all the time. And poor Jack..he always had to be at the receiving end of all of her tears, making him feel so many negative feelings.

She always seemed to cause everyone pain and she hated it. All she wanted to do was make her friends smile. That was all.

“Hey.. shh, Six… Six is a tough guy isn’t he? I mean. Look at him, he’s. He’s obviously strong. And he’s smart, too. I don’t think he’d go after a woman he knows he can’t beat…” he tried to calm her, but he couldn’t help but worry too. The things Hot Flash had done the day before… the hospital ward, the children and the teacher… could Six really stand up to her? He wrapped his arms around her gently, holding her against him. “I’m… I’m sure he’ll be fine. He will be.”

Jack had to step out momentarily before, needing to buy a few more bits from the hardware store for Puzzler’s gun. When he arrived home, he heard sobbing from the bedroom. A small part of him groaned but it was overshadowed by the rest, who carried him through the door hurriedly.

“Katelynn? Katelynn, what is it?” he asked shakily as he approached her quickly, reaching out to her. “Are you hurt? Are you in pain?”

“J-Jack..” she answered, her hand still clenched up near her eye, her eyes red rimmed from her crying ever since Six had left. “S-Six..S-Six came to s-see me and oh god..I can’t believe he’d put himself in danger because of me!”

She tugged on her hair really hard, willing herself to share in Six’s pain if he was in any. She never should have told him what had happened with Hot Flash but she didn’t want to turn into a liar. One time with Jack had been enough to never want to do it again.

“Katelynn, stop that, stop it…!” Jack reached for her hands and managed to tear them away from her hair without ripping any hairs out with her fingers. “Six came by? What, what do you mean danger? Her friend was out there, possibly getting hurt because of Hot Flash and it was all her fault. The pain was too much for her as huge tears rolled down her cheeks. It was all her fault and she knew it! She took gasping breaths between sobs and not even Stella whining near her, having heard her mistress, was enough comfort for her.

“S-S-Six!” she gasped out, one hand clenched at her brow, willing the pain to end and go away.
