Strange 24 Hours

“She’s always hungry that little girl of yours.” Jack said with a smile, looking down at the bulldog pup. She had grown a little since they first got her, and he had to remind himself once she was fully grown she would out weigh even Roxy. He wondered how Roxy would continue being ‘top dog’ after that. Hopefully without too many scuffles…

Katelynn wrinkles her nose a bit, smiling down at her. “It’s like she’s the personification of my appetite and she’s the reason I don’t eat..sometimes..”

Oops, she almost let slip how she forgot sometimes. Maybe if they ate now he’d forget about it.

“Well since we can’t take photo’s, want to see what’s available to eat? I think they might have clam chowder bowls?”

Jack stopped walking, and looked at Katelynn.

“Katelynn.” he said quietly. “What did your doctors tell you?”

Oh so that’s what he looked like when he blushed? Very interesting. No wonder she liked it so much. Jack smiles and presses a kiss to her temple.

“Maybe I don’t want people staring?” he asked, pointedly, as Roxy trotted along besides him unlike Stella who was tugging Katelynn along behind her.

“No women staring at your wonderful blue chest with it’s wonderful lean muscles and all?” she asked softly, still blushing and trying to keep Stella behaved.

“Stella..why are you tugging so much..?”

That’s when she began to smell the restaurants and shook her head. “Looks like someone is hungry..”

“You do too.” Jack said quietly before taking her hand as they continued along the pier, Roxy eyeing a dog across the way who was being walked by its owner. “M-Maybe you’re right. Maybe I don’t want other guys staring… I’ll probably end up wearing a sh-shirt with long swim trunks though…”

It was so peaceful on this side, the water sloshing below them, a few seagulls flying overhead and the moon’s reflection upon the water, only a few people walking by them.

Katelynn kept close to Jack’s side, sighing happily at being by his side during this rare moment of having time off work. “That’s too bad..a shirt? You know I love seeing your chest…”

Though she still blushed at admitting such a thing, ears turning a nice violet.

“To save my sanity I think a o-one piece will work for you.” Jack admitted. “Not that I d-don’t think you won’t look n-nice in a two piece but… w-well…” he trails off and mumbles as he gestures to her.

She knew how he got when he saw her in her underwear. A bathing suit, a two piece especially, was basically underwear you wear to go swimming in!

She smiled, leaning her head against his shoulder, having to adjust a bit since her head was bigger than she was used to.

“Or maybe you don’t want men staring? Even though I probably wouldn’t look good in one really since I don’t really have the figure for it.”

It was difficult to tell if he was blushing, what with his skin being such a dark color now. But it was happening. She could certainly tell. “Um. I. I guess.” Jack mumbled quietly.

She giggled, standing up carefully so she wouldn’t fall in the water, Stella coming over to her and getting close to the edge, sniffing about.

“It might be fun,” she continues, seeing Stella going close to the railing but it deters her from going any further and she just sniffs the air around it. Probably wishing to get in the water, poor thing. “Not sure if you prefer two piece or one..”

Jack watched her, leaning on the railing, folding his arms on it as he did. He smiled. “Means you’ll h-have to go shopping for swim wear.” he pointed out, before realizing. “Me too, really… hah. Oh wow. Bathing suits…”

“Shopping for bathing suits together?” she asked, seeing an opportunity to make him blush, putting her legs together and curling them upward, giving him a bit of a flirty look.

“We could do that together and you can help me pick out something?”

It was difficult to tell if he was blushing, what with his skin being such a dark color now. But it was happening. She could certainly tell. “Um. I. I guess.” Jack mumbled quietly.

He nodded his head. “Just enough so if I get thrown in or fall in I won’t drown.” Jack smiled weakly, glancing at her. “We should go swimming when it’s warmer, try to teach you!”

“Really?” she asked, completely excited about the idea. “I would love that! Swimming looks like a lot of fun. Maybe it’ll be warmer in the spring…”

She looked down at the water again, leaning down to lay down upon the dock, reaching a hand out to graze her fingertips across the inky blackness.

Jack watched her, leaning on the railing, folding his arms on it as he did. He smiled. “Means you’ll h-have to go shopping for swim wear.” he pointed out, before realizing. “Me too, really… hah. Oh wow. Bathing suits…”

Jack eyed the drunken men and pulled Katelynn away from their general area. No, he wasn’t going to risk even going near them if they were drunk. He himself had never been drunk in his life but he knew what it did to people, and if they caught sight of Katelynn with her blue skin who knew what their reaction would be.

“We’ll go for a-another walk around and come back later.” Jack said to her quietly before leading her away, now mumbling more to himself. “Drunks…”

They kept going along the pier until Jack brought them to a stop by the edge, by a street lamp, and looked over at the dark water below. He watched it for a while before asking.

“Do you know how to swim?”

Walking over to the lamp, she leaned against it, the soft glow casting light upon their features and into the water where Katelynn could better see herself. The water moved softly, blurring the image slightly.

“I’ve never really learned…No pool back home and I never really visited the ocean because my town wasn’t close to it…Do you know how to swim, love?”

He nodded his head. “Just enough so if I get thrown in or fall in I won’t drown.” Jack smiled weakly, glancing at her. “We should go swimming when it’s warmer, try to teach you!”

“You sure? I know how much you l-like your sweet things.” Jack said quietly, looking at the store again, still wishing it wasn’t so gosh darn pink. You just couldn’t keep your man card if you walked in there, even with a woman on your arm. And Jack was barely holding onto his man card as it was.

At the suggestion of the photo booth though, he glanced around, hoping to spot one. They always had those sorts of thing down here, right? …least he hoped so. He’d never come here before.

“I don’t think you want to deal with a hyper blue woman,” she giggled, pressing a hand to her mouth and continuing onward. “Then I really be like Mr. Megamind, hyper and all over the place. It’s fine. Maybe on the way home.”

People were mostly crowding around a little tavern on the right, drunken men stumbling out of it but Katelynn’s eyes were busy looking around for the photo booth as well, wishing to take some cute, silly pictures with Jack to remember today.

It was already starting to feel like a real date, something they hardly did considering her past experiences with villains keeping her busy and in trouble.

“I think there’s a place we can take a picture over there,” Katelynn pointed to a red box with a blue curtain, seeing a few of the drunks near it taking photo’s and laughing. “We can..just wait until they’re done I guess..”

Jack eyed the drunken men and pulled Katelynn away from their general area. No, he wasn’t going to risk even going near them if they were drunk. What masculinity Jack had told him to not go near the place. It was pink! Entirely pink! With lollies and sweeties and candies all on display in the window. Besides, he didn’t like sweets that much. Jack observed the store in silence as Katelynn pointed at it.

Roxy, too, peered at the store before snuffing her nose at it.

“You want to go in?” Jack asked, forgoing his withering masculinity to keep his girlfriend happy.

Her sweet tooth was calling, her eyes looking into his and saying ‘yes oh god yes’ but her mouth smiled nervously, trying to fight the cravings for something sugary. She would become hyper anyway, remembering the time she had eaten ice cream with Aqua.

“It’s..well..it smells nice…but we can go look elsewhere and keep going.”

Still she eyed the caramel popcorn in the machine considering she could smell it. It was heavenly.

“I probably should have brought my camera so we could take pictures together..maybe one of those photo booths?”

“You sure? I know how much you l-like your sweet things.” Jack said quietly, looking at the store again, still wishing it wasn’t so gosh darn pink. You just couldn’t keep your man card if you walked in there, even with a woman on your arm. And Jack was barely holding onto his man card as it was.
