Taking a Trip

Jack had to laugh as he followed her through to the kitchen, chuckling gently, before he gingerly wrapped his arms around her from behind and kissed the back of her head. “I could have done them.” he whispered quietly. It was no bother for him, really, to do domestic things. When he had grown up here he had his chores to do, his weight to pull, and he enjoyed helping out around the house.

She snuggled back against him as she rubbed a sponge against a plate, washing off the crumbs from the plate. “It’s fine..It’s rude of me to just leave the dishes. I usually wash them after I finish eating but I guess I was just sad to leave this place. I’m going to miss it here.”

She ran the plate under the water water which had turned warmer and put it to dry on the counter where a towel lay.

“Well we can always come back any time.” Jack whispered. “M-Maybe for Valentines we could spend a few days here, rather then just a night…?” he asked, since the idea was lovely to him. The weather would be warmer, and if Katelynn kept her medicine with her the hay fever couldn’t get to her too much…

He smiled and sighed as she got up. Oh to spend an entire day in bed with her, to do anything they wanted. His mind, the gentleman that it was, showed him the images of last night and just how bold he’d suddenly gotten with her. Jack blushed brilliantly and set his plate aside as he got up. “I’ll do the dishes, then.” he informed her, “You can have the first shower. Be careful the water does stay a bit cold for the first minute, but it’ll heat up!”

“O-Oh..” Katelynn came back, picking up her dishes. “Sorry! I forgot the dishes..sorry!” She rushed out of the room with them, trying to hurry to the kitchen to wash them. She had completely forgotten about them, so lost in her sadness over saying goodbye to the house.

Setting them down carefully, she began the wash, the water coming out as cold as he said it would.

Jack had to laugh as he followed her through to the kitchen, chuckling gently, before he gingerly wrapped his arms around her from behind and kissed the back of her head. “I could have done them.” he whispered quietly. “Might as well.” Jack said with a quiet mumble. “The bus shows up at twelve, mid day and it’s still fairly early. So we have time…” he added, taking yet another bite before a drink of orange juice he’d squeezed the night before and set in the fridge.

She hummed unhappily around her fork, pushing the rest of the food away. “Well it was nice while it lasted..I really liked it out here. Especially because it was with you..”

She blushed, getting up to go pack, looking around the house again as if committing every detail to memory.

“Okay, that… that’s fair.” he smiled at her softly before reaching over, and placed his hand gently on top of hers. “No matter what happens at home.” Jack whispers before withdrawing his hand and going back to his breakfast.

That brought the smile back to her face, looking over at him before taking another bite of her pancakes, still humming happily at how delicious they tasted. “I guess..it’ll be time to pack after this?”

Jack’s green eyes widened. The idea of seeing Katelynn as a baby just makes his heart grow larger within his chest. She must have been the most adorable little thing in the whole world he was sure of it.

Then it made him wonder what kind of baby she would give birth to. No doubt cute beyond anything. And then his eyes just quickly move down to her stomach before back to her face again.

“I, I’d still like to see them.” he said.

She noticed the look, her stomach melting in warmth as she pressed a hand discreetly across her stomach. “I’ll show them to you..when we get home…”

The thought of home sobered her up a bit. She had enjoyed the peacefulness of the house, the alone time with Jack without the noises of the city interrupting them. But they would have to return home soon and face the music of the results once she took the test.

“Okay, that… that’s fair.” he smiled at her softly before reaching over, and placed his hand gently on top of hers. “No matter what happens at home.” Jack whispers before withdrawing his hand and going back to his breakfast.

“M-my kid photos?” he asked, blushing slightly. Well, she’d seen one but it was hardly a happy one. He swallowed some pancakes, giving a shrug. “I, I guess. But that means I get to see one of yours…?” Jack asked, since it would only be fair now wouldn’t it?

“Mine?” she blinked, equally as shocked. “Um..well..I have a few..mostly from when I was a baby..but you know..terrible parent’s..” She shrugged, taking a sip of her milk. “There aren’t many.. But the few I have are hidden away in my apartment somewhere..I haven’t seen them in so long.”

”I don’t know. I’ve just heard it from movies.” Jack said with a shrug as he picked up the knife and fork, picked up a strawberry, and used it to help him cut through the pancake by piercing the same fork into the soft fluffy delictables.

“Oh there are many photos of me with braces on..”

“Canf I seef dem?” she asked, looking over at him with her fork in her mouth, chewing around her food. She blushed, taking the fork out and swallowing.

“Oh no I have them. Thanks,” Jack said as he approached the bed and set the tray on the bedside table. He kept the dressing gown on and eased into the bed slowly, tugging the sheets back for Katelynn. Once she had sat, he tugs the blankets up around her before handing her the plate. “Bon apetite mon cherie.” he says with a grin before settling against his pillow.

“A-and yes. Before, I did have braces. My teeth were a-awful when i was nine so I got some until I was nineteen. Painful.”

Katelynn blushed, feeling really spoiled, especially at the affectionate nickname. “Doesn’t that mean ‘my friend’?” she wondered, picking up a fork to start digging into the pancakes, moaning at how good they tasted.

“I wonder if there are any photo’s of you with the braces on. I’d like to see them.”

“Here we go!”

He set the plates onto a tray, and picked it up. “Now back to bed, w-where we can enjoy these in comfort rather then on cold floors.” he added, looking down at his bare feet and wriggled his blue feet. He began to lead them back to the bedroom, humming softly.

She followed after him, humming happily. “Mmmm those pancakes smell amazing! I can’t wait to try them! You mostly made them so I bet they taste as amazing as they smell,” she replied, holding her arms out. “Want some help carrying them?”
