“You’re not.” Jack said, turning to look down at her, expression one of confusion and hurt emotions. “Y-you could just tell me. But you ch-choose to let it happen. You c-could tell me b-but you’re not. I don’t-don’t know. You d-do what you want, K-Katelynn. I’m just your fi-fiance. Why s-should I know wh-where you g-go at night a-and why y-you stay out a-a-all night?” chest rising and falling as his face began to stain purple. “I-I’m sorry i-if I’m making you f-feel bad but I-I have to express my f-feelings too, c-can’t I?” he asks.

“I-I’ll just stay here a-a-and wait. It’s a-all I do.” he said before turning and walking out of the room, needing to just make something to drink. Something hot. Tea. Calming tea. He needed that.

She groaned, putting her hands up in her hair again, tangling up into it and unsure of what to do. She couldn’t stay here, she couldn’t keep hurting him this way and she needed to talk to Six anyway, to make him understand.

Getting up off the bed, she grabbed her coat and headed for the door but not without telling him as she opened it, “Of course you can express yourself with me Jack. You know this. You can tell me anything you want..! Thoughts, feelings; whatever you want! Just..let me just..ask Six if it’s okay..it’s his story..his past..I just..I don’t know..I’m going to go talk to him though. I’ll be back later.”

Walking out the door, she shut it, heading off to look for Six, nibbling on her bottom lip as she did.

He had just been about to answer her but she’d just walked right out the door. Jack stood there, hand reaching out after her before the stupid tears started in his eyes. His hands shook as he looked down at the floor, before grabbing the nearest plate and let it fall to the floor.

It broke, of course.

But he just stared down at it, tears still streaking down his face. Why did she need permission to talk to him? It wasn’t fair.

Sighing, he kneels, and begins to pick up the pieces.

He sat there a moment, before pulling his hands away from her, sighing as he did. Jack turned his head away, feeling conflicted. Feeling pained. Good on her an Six for having such a relationship to share such things, but to still refuse to tell him anything? What, did she think he couldn’t handle it? That he was weak?

Standing up slowly, Jack wiped at his nose with his wrist. “Are you thirsty?” he asked. “I can make you s-something if you are…”

Looking back up at him a moment, silently, watching his back toward her and feeling her own heart break at how he sounded.

“Jack..please understand..” She hated this how she pained another person, fourth or fifth one now, she lost count. Was she only bringing suffering to everyone?

She tucked her head in her knees, giving a shuddering breath. “I’m sorry..only making you suffer more..”

“Why? How were you h-helping him? Where did you go? Katelynn, Katelynn please.” he took a hand into one of his own, the other gently touching her face and lifting it so their eyes met. “W-we said we weren’t g-going to keep promises from one a-another any more… please, tell me..”

Sighing, her eyes lowered despite her face pointed toward him. He was right but at the same time it conflicted with keeping it a secret for Six. Would he hate her for sharing his private business? It was his own history after all.

“I’m not..keeping this from you Jack..” she whispered. “Please understand it’s just..It’s Six’s life..his past..how I can I share that without his permission? That would be like me telling people about your past..you wouldn’t like anyone knowing..you told me that in confidence..”

It tore her heart up a little though because she had promised to share everything with Jack. She just couldn’t share this.

“What I can say..is that I tried helping him..tried to bring closure to what happened to him..at least a little bit. He lost a friend..and I swear I talked to him..but Six didn’t believe me…I have to get him to believe me..”

He sat there a moment, before pulling his hands away from her, sighing as he did. Jack turned his head away, feeling conflicted. Feeling pained. “He looked mad.” Jack said quietly, watching her, refusing to answer his question and that hurt a lot. More than he would care to admit. “When he brought you here, h-he looked really mad.”

The memory of last night, how furious he had appeared when he rescued her broke through her memory, the palms on her forehead falling into her lap as she turned to stare at Jack.

“H-He did..?” she whispered, feeling a cold sensation in her heart. Her eyes fell away from Jack, staring down at her hands. “I..I was only trying to help him though..”

“Why? How were you h-helping him? Where did you go? Katelynn, Katelynn please.” he took a hand into one of his own, the other gently touching her face and lifting it so their eyes met. “W-we said we weren’t g-going to keep promises from one a-another any more… please, tell me..”

“Was it giving your fiance a heart attack because if that was your plan then you succeeded!” Jack said, pulling back, frowning at her. “A private place? Will you even t-tell me where? And why?”

“It’s Six’s business to know that..I can’t share his private information..” she whispered, frowning in irritation at the memory of him. “But he didn’t listen to me. I tried helping him and he didn’t listen.”

She put both of her palms in her hair, pressing them against her forehead and feeling so lost. She had to convince him somehow, to talk to him about it. Minion’s spirit was trapped and only he might know how to free him.

“He looked mad.” Jack said quietly, watching her, refusing to answer his question and that hurt a lot. More than he would care to admit. “When he brought you here, h-he looked really mad.”

“Katelynn!!”

Seconds later blue arms were around her, and Jack was holding onto her, eyes wide with worry. “Oh my God Katelynn…!! I was so scared!” he says, shakily. “Six brought you here a-and you were unconscious but he said you were sleeping and I was so afraid where were you last night??”

“I went back to a place Six took me,” she whispered, his arms wrapped tight as her face was snug against his shoulder. “A private place for him…I wanted to help him bring a little more closure..”

Six’s words from last night were hardly registering into her mind, only thinking about how he hadn’t listening to a word she said. He had even forced her to go unconscious. She frowned against Jack.

“But I managed to do what I set out so that’s good at least.”

“Was it giving your fiance a heart attack because if that was your plan then you succeeded!” Jack said, pulling back, frowning at her. “A private place? Will you even t-tell me where? And why?”

She was probably delirious. A night in here, with whatever horrors were lurking around she probably made this up. Made herself believe this. “Katelynn.” he growled, exhaustion and nerves on end he turns around and presses his hand to her forehead.

Instantly, Katelynn blacks out.

He carries her sleeping body up through the Facility, and brings her home to Jack.

In her dreams she could see him, a floating cute little fish, that smiled at her, nudging her happily. His presence was just so warm that it made her cry, the tears appearing in the real word on her face.

Blinking a bit, she groaned and sat up in the bed, body curling together as she ran a hand over her forehead. Had it all been a dream?

“Katelynn!!”

Seconds later blue arms were around her, and Jack was holding onto her, eyes wide with worry. “Oh my God Katelynn…!! I was so scared!” he says, shakily. “Six brought you here a-and you were unconscious but he said you were sleeping and I was so afraid where were you last night??”

She hadn’t slept, had barely eaten, having walked around for hours trying to find an exit. She wasn’t sure how much time had passed or even what part of the facility she was in. Luckily her flashlight wasn’t dying but she supposed the batteries weren’t going to give out so soon.

But she felt like she was. The noises, the touches, seeing things out of the corner of her eyes; she was constantly shivering by now, arms around herself. She had tried to find the rope she had used or any lying around but the only thing on the floor was dust and crumbs…and the blood.

Wondering briefly if this desperation was sort of how Six felt while down here, she reached up to tangle her fingers in her hair, pulling on it slightly, worried she’d never find the exit and Jack would worry himself sick.

Leaning against a wall, Katelynn sank down to her bottom, legs tucked into herself, closing her eyes and just trying to ignore everything around her.

Yet it felt like it was all closing in on her. A feeling of suffocation. It was getting closer, the feeling of suffocation. She wasn’t alone, she had known this from the start of this. Nobody real, nobody living, but echoes of the past and whispers. Plus a little fish, his soul lost, trapped and not knowing how to get out.

They were all trapped. Now she was trapped with them…

Morning came and she still wasn’t home. Jack tried calling her multiple times but still no answer. He walked back and forth through the apartment, worry on his face, and chewing at his nails. What if something had happened? Something horrible? He didn’t know. Yet his mind was going a mile a minute.

He couldn’t just stand here.

Looking over her note again he frowned, picked up his phone and called Six.

What followed was a confusing phone call. Jack, all but crying, about Katelynn being missing. That she was somewhere that Six knew about. Six, tired after a night out fighting people and robots, had just settled down to sleep after working through the night on something else and now sighed heavily to himself.

There was a promise that he would get Katelynn, and bring her back, to wait there. He made Six super promise, and only then did he hang up and went back to waiting.
