Katelynn had been watching the exchange with interest, a smile on her face and a feeling of envy prickle her heart. This was how a mother was supposed to act, she mused, a sad look entering her eyes, not the way hers had.
Dismissing the thought at the question, she snapped to attention. “O-Oh um just a few more days. My ribs are practically healed so there isn’t much reason to keep me here anymore. Just need another set of X-rays for my legs to see how they’re faring I guess. Then I’ll be good and out of here and moving into my new apartment.”
She couldn’t wait to get out of here and living back in society. It would be difficult at first, getting around in a wheelchair, but she knew she could manage if she really tried.
“Will you two be staying in Metro City? I mean cause if you are we could all hang out or something once I’m free?” Though the idea gave her a few nerves, considering she was still shy around them, but for her New Years Resolution she had said she wanted to be less shy, less selfish and such other things about herself.
“Oh honey I don’t think we will. We’re due to visit family in the next state over in a few days so we’re really just here long enough to refuel and see the two of you.” Bonnie sad sadly. “But next time we’re in town we’ll most definitely take our time more for you both! It’s just a busy time of year, isn’t it?”
