“Sweetie,” oh my god, a pet name. He’d never used a pet name before. Wasn’t that what his father had called his mother at some point when they had visited the day before? “We just. We just made love. There’s no where else in the world I rather be than right besides you.” Jack says this as he touches her shoulder with his hand as they slowly ride the elevator back down to he floor.
Her heart melted, a huge smile spreading across her face, the lovely pet name sending happy tingles in her stomach. Now she was going to think of what pet name fit him best, perhaps even dreaming about it.
She wanted to say something to that, but her happy smile seemed to be answer enough for him, her face aglow with happiness.
He smiled back at her, face still flushed from the exertion of what just happened, but could do no more since the doors opened. Jack waved, slightly nervously, at the nurse at the station as they passed her and he prayed she couldn’t read minds since his was still thinking back on what just happened up on the roof. The roof. Of all the places to have your first sexual experience it was on the roof of a hospital not ten minutes into 2012.
Amazing.
He does, however, request a cot. It’s New Years Day. He wants to be with his girlfriend. The nurse sighs, and says she’ll go fetch one.
It isn’t long until Katelynn is back in bed, and Jack is tucking her in with the blanket as the nurse walks in and prepares the cot for him. He thanks the nurse before looking to Katelynn, eyes readable as ever. If not more so. “See?” he said gently as he took her hands into his. “I’ll be here in the morning. I love you. So much.” Jack says, not whispers, before he kisses her.
