“Katelynn… this is… one of those things I don’t th-think I’d be swayed by. And if you d-don’t want Scarlet having a guest don’t even o-offer it then. It’s your wedding. If y-you don’t want her bringing… him… then don’t. He’s n-nothing but rude to you, and he would sp-spend his time getting under everyone’s skin and making t-them ansty. C-can you imagine him and Six in the s-same room?”

She tried and it didn’t seem to be such a nice image, shoulders hunching up together. “Vice and Six…bad idea..” she replied. “But, love..I mean..Lady Doppler..I can’t say no to her..and I’d feel so guilty about Destruction Worker too..it seems awfully cruel of me to say no when they’ve been so kind..”

She reached over and touched his arm, thumb caressing his skin.

“So, no on that..” he reached for the list and crossed ‘guest’ off of the list. That was a bit easier since really, he knew about the issues that took place between Scarlet and Six, and expected her current boyfriend would probably lord it up in front of the man who once felt so strongly for her. If those two began fighting…

Then she’s touching his arm, and he looks down at it, before looking at her. “…L-Lady Doppler I’d be fine with but… h-he helped Psycho Delic kill those people in that mall around Ch-Christmas time don’t you remember? O-or when he beat up Scarlet? Wh-when he fought Six? How c-can you allow that… Katelynn, no.” he shakes his head, before looking at her again. The tone of voice he used, it wasn’t one he’d used with her before. With anyone, probably.

Jack watched her quietly for a moment. He looked down at the magazine in his hands, frowning. “…I don’t want Destruction Worker there. O-or anyone who has connections to villains. It… it may lure other villains, knowing there’s a wedding a-and a party…” what if Hot Flash crashed the party? Or worse, Psycho Delic?

She looked down at her list, biting down hard on her lower lip and causing it to go red. “But he’s my friend…I’d feel really bad if he wasn’t there..I bet he would too..granted I haven’t seen him in a while but..And Miss Doppler..especially her..I mean..she’s been really kind to me, rescued me from Psycho Delic. If anything I bet with them there they could make sure no one crashes the party?”

“Wait. Wait.” he said, “Read to me that list. Th-that’s one thing I want to have an in put on.”

“Oh um..” she blushed, giggling nervously. “Well..there’s Mets, Harrison Drake, Grace, Steve, Jess, Lucy, Bernard, his boyfriend even though I haven’t met him, Six, Alice, Lady Doppler, Destruction Worker, Fiona, Scarlet and guest though I hope he doesn’t come, Miss Valerie, Eriu, Little Blue, Mr. Megamind, Miss Sinner, Mr. Minion…” She tapped her pen on the notepad, rushing through some of the names and trying to see who she had forgotten.

Jack watched her quietly for a moment. He looked down at the magazine in his hands, frowning. “…I don’t want Destruction Worker there. O-or anyone who has connections to villains. “Well.. they could go o-on the invitations, the cake, m-make little paper ones and stick them to the g-glasses at the reception… table cloths, napkins…” he looked over another magazine, flipping through it. “Th-there’s so many options really.”

“Yeah,” she replied, laying down on her stomach before everything. “Okay so a butterfly theme..with the red spotted one..and wings on my back..” she wrote, tongue sticking out of her mouth. “Only inviting the closest of friends too..Oh guest list!”

She wrote a separate list, writing down all their names of the people she cared about, even including names like Eriu and some people Jack probably didn’t know. Even some villains who were her friends.

“Wait. Wait.” he said, “Read to me that list. Th-that’s one thing I want to have an in put on.”

Jack tilted his head at the image and took it from her. The idea of releasing butterflies? Not doves? That sounded nice… “M-Maybe I could wear a butterfly pin or something too… on my lapel…” he said, touching his chest for a moment.

“That would be nice,” she commented, smiling. “I like the idea of a butterfly theme too because they’re sort of your thing..” She wondered what else she could put butterflies on, maybe get some dinnerware with them or something or make the cake with butterflies. Definitely a better choice than swans, as was the theme of her own website, remembering the butterfly quote she had read once.

“Ugh there’s just so much planning that goes into a wedding and I’m not even making it a big one..”

He glanced at her out the corner of his eyes and saw her looking out the window and inwardly groaned. Can’t she focus on what’s important? Snow comes every year, a wedding once in a life time. Priorities were important, weren’t they? Jack looks back down at his book, making a ‘hmm’ sound at the back of his throat. “How big? A-and where?”

“On my back,” she replied, finally deciding perhaps lilac would be the best choice and writing it down in her list of ‘finals for the wedding’. “Some wings to match this certain butterfly I wanted released after the vows…” She grabbed an image, having seen it online and printed it after Miss Megamind’s suggestion. “It’s called a Red Spotted Purple butterfly..I’m not sure if I can get the wings to look like that but I liked the color scheme of them. They matched your business cards when we met so I thought that instead of dove’s..what do you think?”

“K-Katelynn this is serious.” Jack said, looking at her. “W-we can think about fun later okay?” he asked. “I, I know you like your fun but we have to knuckle down and w-work on this now. That’s why we c-came out here, to get away from the city but a-also to do this. So let’s focus for now?”

“Okay,” she sighed, moving the color swatches between her fingers. Planning a wedding was supposed to be fun but the snow would disappear eventually and they’d go home and miss it all. She felt it was a bit of a waste. Last snow of the season after all she lamented, looking out the window a bit longingly.

“Well..what do you think about me having butterfly wings on for my wedding dress?”

“It i-isn’t fair for you to plan everything.” Jack said, turning the pages in the magazine slowly. “I’m n-not some old style man wh-who will leave it all to the woman to decide on things…”

“Plan a little more then go outside and have a little fun?” she asked, picking up color swatches of shades of purples and blues. “It’s good to have a break too and have a little fun.” She nudged him gently, unsure if she wanted the bridesmaid dresses in lilac or sapphire. She didn’t even bother looking in magazines for her dress as she had sort of decided the design but it would take a tailor to make it and add something she wanted.

“I’m not one for snowball fights.” Jack admitted where he sat on the lounge floor amongst the magazines and swatches. “We’re t-trying to be adults here aren’t we?” he asked, tilting his head faintly. “This is more important than p-playing in the snow.” He looked down at one of the magazines and picked it up into his hands, looking over the elaborate designs for a reception area. “I-I haven’t even properly talked about it with you yet…”

She moved over to where he was, squatting down on her legs and leaning into his shoulder, acting a bit like an excited puppy. “What’s wrong with a little fun?” she asked softly, trying to keep the smile off her face. “Remember that time we tossed snowballs to each other? You liked it then..But you’d rather plan things? I’m amazed you decided to help me..I thought you’d say you wanted me to do it all.”

“Oh wow look at all the snow!” Katelynn cried in the morning, going to the window while in her pajamas. It looked so much whiter out here than in Metro City, where the white mixed with the mud and was walked over by everyone. But here outside of Jack’s family home it was pristine, covering the trees and everything. “Last snow of the season before the spring I bet…Ugh too bad I have to plan the wedding instead..would have been fun to have a snowball fight, don’t you think love?”

She had color swatches to go over, magazines to look through and websites to look up while they were taking their vacation in his parent’s house. She had been putting off planning because of her jobs but she really wanted his opinion on some things. Luckily she wasn’t planning anything bit for the wedding but she didn’t really want to say she had done it all in case he wanted to put his own input in.
