“Katelynn…? Are you all right…?” he asked, wrapping in arm around her. “A-are you feeling sick…?” she didn’t look well; she looked pale. He suddenly felt so stupid; making his girlfriend, who could very well be pregnant, walk 15 minutes in the cold? What kind of man did that?
She shook her head, both clear the fog and to reassure him. “I’m fine..I’m fine!” she said, bringing out the list. “List though..right…um..”
She checked it, snuggling into his arms a bit now that her mind was clear and she was able to register his arms at all. “Well..you said you brought milk and cheese..we might need some..meat..some bananas..a small bit of cereal..tiny amount of..v-veggies..”
Which meant seeing Sally again. Perfect. She tried to stifle a groan.
“And maybe some bread..I mean..if we’re just staying one night then maybe some of this stuff is..sort of moot..?”
“Well it’s still nice to have fresh bread,” Jack said as he kept her close, wrapping his other arm around her gently. “And we can toast it against the fire l-like I used to with my parents. Fruit is good, though… we’ll need that.” he said, whilst resisting the urge to touch her stomach.
Even if she wasn’t pregnant, Katelynn still had to keep eating properly for her own health.
