Sally smiled at him and nodded to Katelynn before vanishing into the crowd, and was soon gone, lost among all the people.
Jack waved after her slightly before looking down at Katelynn. “All right, w-what’s on the list?” he asked.
Her stomach still felt twisted and Katelynn wondered if it was because of..that…or because of Sally. She just wasn’t sure, her mind lost in a bit of a fog of insecurities, especially remembering when someone had dared called her “Plain Jane”. That had stung.
But Jack thought she was beautiful. He told her all the time.
His question brought her back as she looked up at him, blinking to clear the knot in her stomach. “W-What?”
“Katelynn…? Are you all right…?” he asked, wrapping in arm around her. “A-are you feeling sick…?” she didn’t look well; she looked pale. He suddenly felt so stupid; making his girlfriend, who could very well be pregnant, walk 15 minutes in the cold? What kind of man did that?
