Taking a Trip

wrapped-in-shadows:

“Still doesn’t m-mean they can c-call someone names over it.” he said quietly as they began going slowly downhill. In the distance, voices could be heard. They’d be at the open market soon. This time of year they’d have covers up to keep the stalls under, so they’d stay dry.

“You’re right, love, they shouldn’t,” said in such a serious voice, a frown on her face. But she let the topic drop, hooking her arm through his instead, snuggling up to his side as they continued onward, Katelynn’s gaze moving around and taking in all the sights and the people.

There were quite a number out today, it seemed, everyone milling about. It was so bad in fact, Katelynn didn’t even notice when a guy looked over at her, checking her out quickly and giving a low whistle. For as skinny as Katelynn was, she still had a nice bottom.

It was a good thing she didn’t notice, though.

Taking out her list, she tried to figure out what they would really need, her free hand tapping her chin.

Jack walked along with her, also missing the whistle. After all he was too busy looking around at the stalls. So many familiar faces; though he hadn’t seen them that often what with his fear of crowds.

The fact he was out here alone was getting them some stares, and not just because he had blue skin.

“Jack?” one voice said.

“Jack’s back?”

“Jack left?”

“Jack!”

A young woman with black hair came out from one of the stalls, blue eyes wide.

“Sally?” Jack asked.

“Jack it is you!” Sally said, clasping her hands together. “You’re back from the big city!”

“Y-yeah… only f-for a little while.” he admitted before blinking, and looking to Katelynn. “K-Katelynn. T-this is Sally Marshall. S-Sally, this is Katelynn Foster. My girlfriend.”
