He smiles, and rubs her back through the blanket. “Goodnight sweetie.” he whispers a second time, before making his way to the bed. He feels exhausted. Gutted. He pulls his shoes off and climbs into the cot, and rolls onto his side. Jack imagines, as hard as he can with his fading imagination, that Katelynn’s there with him. That he can wrap his arms around her, pull her in close, and feel her breath against his cheek as she slept.
The idea helped, and it isn’t long until he’s in dreamland… dreaming of the day when she wouldn’t be in hospital. When he could look after her, properly. Just like he was supposed to, and would do, for the rest of his life if he had his say in it.
Katelynn peaks at him from the under the covers and smiles, feeling safe, protected, and most of all happy. She couldn’t wait to get out of the hospital and cuddle next to him. But for now she’s content to have him near, to know he’s watching over her.
Snuggling into her bed, she closes her eyes, dreaming of a future with Jack.

Ringing in the New Year
“I think I was waiting for you all this time.” Jack says honestly, tilting his head to press it into her palm gently, shutting his eyes. “…you’re my other half. That’s the… only way to put this into words. I just hope that… that it isn’t too soon for me to be saying all of this but it’s true. To me.” He kisses her palm, before caressing her shoulder with his hand. “But still. Goodnight, Katelynn. Happy New Year.”
“Goodnight,” she whispers, “Happy New Year, c-cutie.” And she squeaks softly, ducking under the covers of her bed to hide her blush, trying to go to sleep.

Ringing in the New Year
He smiled back at her, face still flushed from the exertion of what just happened, but could do no more since the doors opened. Jack waved, slightly nervously, at the nurse at the station as they passed her and he prayed she couldn’t read minds since his was still thinking back on what just happened up on the roof. The roof. Of all the places to have your first sexual experience it was on the roof of a hospital not ten minutes into 2012.
Amazing.
He does, however, request a cot. It’s New Years Day. He wants to be with his girlfriend. The nurse sighs, and says she’ll go fetch one.
It isn’t long until Katelynn is back in bed, and Jack is tucking her in with the blanket as the nurse walks in and prepares the cot for him. He thanks the nurse before looking to Katelynn, eyes readable as ever. If not more so. “See?” he said gently as he took her hands into his. “I’ll be here in the morning. I love you. So much.” Jack says, not whispers, before he kisses her.
She kisses him back, gently, lovingly, her desire for him slightly sated for now leaving only pure, true love. As she pulls back away, she smiles at him, caressing his cheek. “I love you too..thank you for being so amazing..for being in my life…for finding me..”

Ringing in the New Year
“Sweetie,” oh my god, a pet name. He’d never used a pet name before. Wasn’t that what his father had called his mother at some point when they had visited the day before? “We just. We just made love. There’s no where else in the world I rather be than right besides you.” Jack says this as he touches her shoulder with his hand as they slowly ride the elevator back down to he floor.
Her heart melted, a huge smile spreading across her face, the lovely pet name sending happy tingles in her stomach. Now she was going to think of what pet name fit him best, perhaps even dreaming about it.
She wanted to say something to that, but her happy smile seemed to be answer enough for him, her face aglow with happiness.

Ringing in the New Year
Jack had pulled his underwear back on, after awkwardly removing his condom and honestly not knowing what to do with it. He tied a knot in it and set it aside, still unsure of the thing, before finding his jeans and his turtle neck. Once he was re-dressed her carefully pulled her into his arms again, and guided her back into the wheelchair.
He paused. He kissed her, softly, on the lips. The kiss felt different. Braver? Bolder? Yet at the same time it felt tender. Loving. They’d shared something amazingly intimate here, on the roof of the hospital and nothing would ever take that from them. “I’m going to ask if I can get a cot in your room.” he said quietly as he began to push her back to the elevator, snagging his used rubber and having to slide it into his pocket since no way was he leaving it here for people to find.
“I may not… may not be able to sleep with you in the same bed but I still want to be here when you wake up.” he says, as he calls the elevator with a press of a button. It answers; did it even leave? And he pushes her inside.
Her heart fluttered at his words, her face a blush as a smile spread across his face. “A-Are you sure..? I’m not pulling you from something..?”
She wanted him to stay, oh how she did, but she realized she was being selfish and clingy, hating herself for it.

She sits up slightly, blushing and covering herself back up, still panting, her face hot red. She bit her lip, trying to keep her tears at bay, not wanting to leave him. She knew he hadn’t just “hit it and quit it” as the expression went and she knew she had to return to her room, but it didn’t make the separation easier after such a coupling with him.
Tying herself back up and putting on the items of clothing back on, she tried to smile bravely for him, trying to hide her slight fear that she wouldn’t see him after this.
“Y-Yes..need to get back..” she murmured, waiting for him to put his clothes back on so she could be carried back to her wheelchair.

The fireworks were beginning to die down now. How long had they been up here, doing this? Half an hour? Less? Jack is too ashamed to look at his watch. Surely it wasn’t long enough, no matter what length of time had passed. But he holds onto her, tightly, not wanting to let her go but knowing they had to since she had to be back in bed soon or else the nurses would come looking and oh good heavens if they had arrived a few minutes ago… to find a patient being intimate with her partner in the open…
How he wants to sleep with her. To sleep besides her. To awaken with his arms around her, holding her close.
In a few days time, he will. They don’t even have to do this. They could just sleep, holding each other, and wake up and be the first thing each other sees in the morning. It would be wonderful.
“Nobody else will… will know me like this…” Jack admits quietly as he draws himself up, and slips free of her body in the same motion. “A-all right… Katelynn..? N-nobody but you. B… but now I.. before… before the nurses come looking we… we should probably get you dressed and… and back into bed…”
Ringing in the New Year
“N-not as much a-as you are… never as m-much as you…” Jack whispered breathlessly, his erection, that growing coil that was at the base of it all was so hot. It had been hot ever since they had begun to kiss to welcome in the New Year. It felt so tight, so hot, it might melt into one gigantic mass and then he’d never get anywhere ever again but it would be so wroth it because he knows her body now.
And he loves her. He could love no one else as much as he loves her. It was just as his parents told him. That when you find that person, that one individual who touches you without even needing to use their hands, when the thought of them, the sound of their name alone, can make your heart race and your face feel like its on fire… it would be right. That it was them.
It was like that story his father told him. That souls were split into two beings. One half would enter one person, and the other into another one. Those two souls would spend a life time, if need be, searching out their other half. To find who they fit with. Katelynn had to be his. There was no other word for it. It was as if the first day he saw her, his own soul had declared ’Oh, there you are. I’ve been looking for you’.
That was even more obvious now. “I love you so much, d-don’t leave me please… I-I’ll be everything to you I’ll be a-anything just please don’t… don’t leave me…” Jack hated the shake in his voice, how he was begging like this at a time like this but he can’t help it.
But then her body tightens around his and that spring can’t hold on any longer. Jack’s aware his body goes frigid. He sees and feels stars erupt behind his eye lids. His his push into her, pushing his manhood as deep into her body as it physically can at this moment, and he cums.
Ringing in the New Year
He jolts when he feels her body tighten around him, but is relieved to see he can still move himself. Unfortunately, being so new to this, being so very inexperienced to the pleasures of laying with a woman and making love to one Jack knows he will not be able to last too long. He wished he could hold out for as long as she desires, for however long Harrison may have had her last but he’s so stupidly ‘young’ in a way.
Jack caresses her nipple again with his thumb, playing with it awkwardly, as his hips continue to rock against her body. She’s so wet, he can even feel it through the plastic, and its rubbing against his own thighs and it’s making everything so very hot and electric.
Again, his mouth finds hers, and he kisses her deeply, passionately, lovingly, as his hips begin to increase in speed.
Ringing in the New Year
He didn’t feel cold any more. The cool crisp air of the night wind wasn’t touching them here, in this bubble that had seemingly formed around them. Jack gasps a moan as she touches his chest, and whilst his nipples weren’t nearly as sensitive as hers it still makes him shudder.
Everything about this is monumental. It’s his first time with a woman, and if he truly believed in what his heart and mind was whispering to him, this was the only woman he would know like this. Katelynn’s body was accommodating, warm, welcoming, sweet and now his. Even if she may have been with men before, Hell, what man could turn away a woman like her, nobody else would know her like this.
Not Harrison. Not Destruction Worker. Not Megamind. No one else. The sense of sudden possession has his hips move closer against her, until he knows he can’t go any further. His body wriggles awkwardly, unsure of which way to go, but he begins to gently pull back, before returning to her body’s embrace.
“I love you, I love you I love you…” is all he can whisper against her skin between his kisses, his hands caressing her, no matter where he reached for her. One of his thumbs brushed one of her nipples, mirroring her own action to him.
