“We don’t have red seedless.” Sally said in a ‘sorry but not really’ voice, before picking up some green ones. “All we have are these. This time of year and all.”
“W-we can manage.” Jack said quietly, putting his hand on Katelynn’s hand, pushing it away and pays for the grapes.
Katelynn wanted to argue about paying but chose to keep quiet, watching them exchange money again. She bet they just wanted to touch hands again.
When had she become so..? She couldn’t even think of the word for it. There were just too many.
Grabbing a bit of her hair, she tugged on it gently, her usual nervous habit. “Thank you…for the fruit..”
“Have a good day, and don’t be a stranger now.” Sally said, mostly to Jack, who gathered up what was left and walked away, moving with Katelynn as he did.
Of course he saw her nervous actions. How could he not? Jack watched her quietly, before looking over his shoulder at Sally who was already lost in the sea of people. He looked down at Katelynn, before speaking quietly.
“…Katelynn…?”
